Personally, I don't think Davies is the answer but he would be better than nobody and it's no secret DA rates him after his last spell here.

In the long term, what are 3 decent signings ie Higdon and some midfield cover and another back up striker??

It would bring for a more entertaining season
A more positive outlook for the upcoming season
More bums on seats
And potentially a Chesterfield side looking to compete in the play offs.

Seriously, in the long run is it not worth taking that risk?
But I'm not a football chairman..

But I'm not a football chairman..

What if we take the risk and it doesn't pay off?

We'd have 5 season of nothingness to pay for it.

Much as we all love entertaining, winning football, we don't have a bottomless pot and I'd rather see sustainable football for the next twenty years than a season of success followed by 10 of struggle.

To be fair to Goku he just wants success to back up what he's spent and what the club have promised. So what. We support this club and we love this club.
I don't like this mentality of we are chesterfield we will settle for league two and one. Goku just wants us to do well.
So what if he seems spoilt. Just because he's a supporter of a little club like ours doesn't mean he shouldn't crave success.
What's the point of supporting someone if you don't want them to do well and improve?
This is the best chance we've ever had to do so.
He's right to be peeved off and no disrespect but just because the older generation didn't see much success doesn't mean the younger generation shouldn't.

Next season is all about consolidation and staying in league one. If that means we have to do it with the players we've got now and we avoid relegation by 1 point on the last day of the season, that will do for me.

I would rather we went about this the sensible way than using the Rotherham "screw it we don't have to pay the money back to anyone anyway" approach any day.

That's just pointless mate. We All want us to do well. Well, there's the odd one or two - walton for one- who don't. But there has to be some realism in your expectations. The championship is a pipedream quite frankly. If Allen won't fund a competitive league 1 budget what are the chances of doing it at the next level? It is time the other board members put up or shut up and I can see Allen's point.

Give it another 20 years and you'll get used to the losing. I did. You've no option but to let this play out. Early season could be tricky but DA is no fool and methinks there's a degree of poker face involved here with other board members.
