Is there any substance to this rumour at all?
If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

I hope not. He's not what we need to be spending big on.

No - cos midfielders who score 15 for relegated sides are ten a penny.

I don't think its a bad signing. This time last year we'd have been raving. Negative criticism is coming from reading Bristol forums who are upset about going down and some comments that were made/misinterpreted.

We are short one CM since Togwell left. We need to replace him. Speculation on how much of a percentage of the budget JJO'T would take up is just that - pure speculation.

JJO'T fits with the type of midfielder Cook likes. He's able to chip in from Midfield with goals. Defensive cover for Morsy and Ryan will be provided by Hird.

I'll judge him from his performances in a town shirt (if he signs). Some folks are already lining up on here to slate him. It's really easy to do that. Easier to say he's going to be crap so you can say I told you so if he is. Plus you'll get less flack for saying "I was wrong" if he isn't.

Agree with this. Cook cant afford to make bad signings for L1 and wont take risks on any player costing a reasonable wedge. We have to trust his judgement. When all's said and done, he might not even be trying to sign O'Toole!

There was a rumour on another thread we are in for Chris Atkinson, so who would you rather have Atkinson or JJO'T?

Similar players I would think but O'Toole has more 'form in the book' as bonnyman likes to say (including many games at Championship level). Still a good age at 25 as well.

I would like to see a midfielder with physical presence - height and strength. While Ryan and Morsy are fantastic, they don't fare as well when the opposition turn it into a arial battle.
My recollections of Atkinson were only the goals, I don't remember his all-round play

O'Toole is pretty tall - 6ft 2.

Same thing levelled at O'Tooles allround play as Atkinson's - sometimes dieappears from games or doesnt impose himself enough. Question is - would you rather have goals or physical presence from a midfielder? You cant have both as those type of midfielders play in the Premiership.

I think we need a bit more height from set pieces, more bodies in the box, especially defending. If we could add a tall striker as well, that should make defending more effective and attacking more potent.

I expect he'll be looking at lower cost options to offer cover Jimmy and Samy to allow more funds to be allocated to other positions.

not sure what you base that on. I'm sure we'll want to spend as little as possible but there is no point going for a cheap option, the players we sign have got to be good enough to do the job and strengthen the first team. We won't be able to sign players who will strengthen our already strong squad for peanuts.

We have no idea what JJOT was on, the BR forums quote anything from under 2k to 4k, please don't start a Marc Richards style witch hunt against any new signing because you 'expect' him to be on megabucks. We can trust our board to only sign players we can afford.

Has this agent Jim guy got anything correct so far in terms of rumours about town?

As for JJOT, I've not seen enough of the guy to really have a firm opinion but his stats last season look decent and in a 4-2-3-1 we are always going to be reliant on getting plenty of goals from the midfield and this guy does seem to have an eye for goal.

No. He seems to have picked this one up from the southend local paper - he seems to be based down that way. His posts tend to be scattergun - and to repeat stuff that's already appeared elsewhere - but he doesn't half blow his own trumpet if one ever comes off, but that is very rarely - seems to be less than one in a hundred! He certainly doesn't seem to have any good contacts within the game

I think you are right on one thing we do need more height in defending set pieces because how many times was it Richards doing the clearance headers.

Quite right too! I know some think that footballers are fair game running around in those skimpy shorts. But they aren't just sex objects. Isn't it? mmmm?

Simple really. We don't have unlimited funds. Priority positions are elsewhere.

Do you think I personally would start a 'witch hunt' or is it just your choice of words that suggests me personally?

Cook will definitely sign a CM regardless of limited funds. One has gone out. One will come in. How much they cost is guesswork. If regardless of who we sign if people are on their back from the moment they sign because of rumoured wages they'll never be a success

I cant imagine anything being as bad as that to be honest.
