Who has a boo boy? You'll have to name names I'm afraid. Not wanting to sign a player isn't having a boo boy.

The uncomfortable bit about this is that we'd be paying big money (according to the link posted) for a player who could well be a 'Togwell'. If he's not going to sit on the bench all year, who is he going to replace?. When PC considers strengthening, is he really thinking that one of Banks, Morsy, or Ryan is a weak link in the higher division?.

how can he be a togwell, togwell will not score 13 in the rest of his career nevermind a season,he is nothing like togwell.

I'm sure he meant Togwell in the sense that he won't play.

It does make you wonder, when you hear about "attitude problem" and scoring a dozen or so goals from midfield - I'd have a look at last season from the player's point of view. The ship is sinking and conference football beckons...what does the professional do? They look after business by putting themself in the shop window; by shining amongst others whilst playing in quicksand. Or to paraphrase Paul Calf, "In every bag o'Bunkum, there's a spark of gold - probably the wrapper from a caramac bar, but it's there".

So the release clause is activated, and the gaffer sniffs around. Attitude problem perceived by others could be the difference between a professional securing another contract in the football league or going part-time and missing out on some of your current salary. In a team sport, there's plenty of times you have to be selfish. Maybe this guy saw the iceberg coming and decided to do what's best for him - that many goals in a relegated team would have a lot of people asking, what could he do with better players around him? It's certainly got the gaffer interested, anyway...

So, player meets gaffer, and gaffer is honest enough to say I've heard everything about you. Player says "I can't argue, I was that man. I needed a move and thought it was the best way forward for me". There's seldom any friendships in football, only acquaintances, so gaffer understands. Gaffer explains ethos of the club, his philosophy; player either buys into it or says I'll keep looking.

As a new signing, the player knows he doesn't have the shirt like he used to at his old club. He's not going to take it from any of the current players without good reason, so he has to knuckle down from minute one in order to stake a claim. With the players we have who can play in that position, we have bribery of the sweetest kind - 4 players, vying for one shirt, trying to outdo eachother in training. Delightful headache for the coaches to have when it comes to selection.

Just ride this one out folks, if it comes off, we've got strength in depth and versatility from those players. We'll need that more in L1 than we did this year; form, injuries and suspensions aren't something we can predict that well, so we find ourselves with another unpolished gem...

I believe he has activated a relegation release clause and can walk away for free.

Yes, I was being stupid

This thread is funny…..

http://gasheads.org/...8/jon-joe-toole

The dreaded 4K p/w has been mentioned :D Not sure I would trust their opinion, seem a very bitter lot.

The bit about the calibre of clubs chasing him is funny. THey don't seem to have accepted they're non league yet

@AgentJim_: Being told that John-Joe O'Toole is close to signing for Chesterfield.

Completely made up, false rumour!
Why would we even consider signing a jockey? :D

This whole 'attitude problem' thing seems to be based around him saying he's too good for Bristol Rovers and their fans taking umbrage to that but... he kind of has a point doesn't he!?
I just don't know what I'm supposed to be

im sure he did but we have 2 players who are stepping up again after non league its wrong to think that they will handle it more than o toole who has in reality more form in the book.

Those two players were signed safe in the knowledge that we should've been promoted so if there was any shred of doubt that they couldn't handle the step up in class of league one then should they have been signed?

Town fans have a very poor record when it comes to slagging off their own players but this is a bit unusual - we usually wait for them to sign before starting

nobody is slagging him off. It's more about amusing ourselves second guessing the kind of thoughts, positive and negative, that must be racing through PC's mind if he's thinking about a move for him. Phil T reported that PC 'likes' the player before we played them. Brown at Sarfend says the player is 'expensive'. That's all we've got to go on.

for me he is a replacement for Banks/Gardner who can also cover Ryan/Morsy if one of them is injured

I can't see Cook allocating a reasonable chunk of the budget on anyone in that position.

Togwell has yet to be replaced. He would have been on a similar wage as jj

I expect he'll be looking at lower cost options to offer cover Jimmy and Samy to allow more funds to be allocated to other positions.
