He seems to have been consistent in saying he thought he was too good for League Two. No harm in a bit of arrogance, if it comes with results on the pitch.

Managers and players seem to like him, any negatives seems to come from fans and the issue about 'not trying'. As for his performance here, he said after the game he was not at all happy with his own or his team's performance. He expressed surprise that at about that time he was their player of the month.

I am sure if we do sign him, it will be on the back of dossiers far thicker than anything we can pick up from fans forums. I am sure he wont be a certain starter until he can prove he is worthy, but we need a squad not just a team.

He comes across a lot better in this interview

http://www.bristolpo...tail/story.html

It sounds like he was stitched up by the Irish journo - not the first and won't be the last

We are said to be interested in this article in the sarfend press

They were saying this about him before they were relegated on TFF. He wouldn't suit us one bit - we need hard working players. Look at our squad - you won't see one with an "attitude problem" among them. More of the same, please. You can't have a fancy dan can't be bothered type in centre mid.

a fancy dan that cant be bothered who scores a bucket load from midfield. hmmm. now how many on here have been complaining all season that we need players who can score regularly???
horses for courses. maybe he was too talented for league 2. I don't have a problem with someone who has confidence In their own abilities. id see him as cover / competition for banksy more than anything else. both capable of scoring goals. League one may be a better playground with someone with more natural ability. not as much chance of being hacked down every time they get the ball like in a typical league 2 match. I also expect Roberts and oshea to thrive more in league one on the same basis.

This whole more space in League 1 thing is an absolute myth lol. The better players will always have more space. That's all there is to it.

Bristol Rovers fans have seen him more than us, they can see past the goals - good on them for not being blinded on someone's ability simply by how many goals they've score.

I have no real opinion on this guy other than he sounds like he should be a jockey.

A post in peace my friend but why does everything have to be so black or white in your player assessment?

Yes, everything I write is in my opinion. I don't preface every post with "in my opinion" because that would be a ball ache. Thanks for your opinion on my opinion, which may or may not be given a toss about.

He may go on to be a brilliant League 1 midfielder, scoring goals from here there and everywhere. From what I've read from the people who watched him for at least a season (and the little I've seen) I doubt it. He's a CM who doesn't impose himself on a game, has apparent attitude problems... Look at our centre mids right now, who is he getting in front of? Look at their work rate. I just believe there will be better options out there.

So you judge a player on the internet twitterings of frustrated supporters and disregard the opinion of his fellow pros who voted him into the divisional team of the season. Hmmm. I thought you were more net savvy than that. How do you know that the opinions you read weren't from the gas equivalent of r2d2 and Walton?

That wasn't my question mate but never mind.......

I don't think he'd play CM - he'd be in the number 10 role. With him, O'Shea, Gardner, and Banks vying for the position!! Cook does like a number 10!

The pros will have seen he's scored and gone off that. Same reason Gary Roberts got POTS when for nearly every Spireite it would've been Morsy.

RPLs and Waltons aren't too frequent, thankfully.

Ok, to answer directly... and I hate myself for saying this cos I sound like a mouthy contestant about to enter the Big Brother house but "I say things how I see them". I'm not one to go into a thread and offer some mushy "well yeah he could be good he might be crap who knows I really hope Cook signs some good players it would not be good if he signed some bad ones" type of opinion. I go off the evidence available to me and try to reach a conclusion. If he signs then he has every chance to prove me wrong. I don't think he'll sign, I think he'll end up at Southend.

But there's no need for a conclusion. Lower division footballers will have good days nd probably more bad days. You don't have to nail your colours to a particular mast and make an instant unchangeable decision.
I know you can do it because even you got to the right conclusion with Richards eventually... :windup

I haven't got a clue how good he is and I will openly admit that. I couldn't even tell yu how he played against us as unless a player stands out I never really notice the opposition. Always amazes me on here we can be linked with the most obscure person in the league and some folk can tell you how he plays, strengths, weaknesses and if he will be any good or fit into our system. Absolute bolux most of the opinions on here are about players, as like me they won't have a fkin clue until they start and lay for us, unless its someone that has played against us many times over

You're right, but if all threads were full of "yeah he might be good" it would be a boring old board.

To summise; I'm not interested in a player whose work rate doesn't match Morsy's/Ryan's and if he did end up playing AM, well we don't need another one of those as we have Banks/Gardner/O'Shea who can all play in the central attacking midfield role.

Maybe you just don't pay as much attention as some of us to do.

Sometimes I do sympathise on those who say you can't offer an opinion on this forum without being jumped on by the "thou shalt not offer an alternative opinion to mine, you can't possibly know anything about that player because I say so" brigade. Boring.

I don't believe anybody takes notice or remembers players from one off games unless they have either dominated or made a significant contribution to a game either through being excellent or completely dire

No, but they do take notice of what fans of other clubs say. If he was as his 13 goals hint at, he'd be getting glowing reports.

Or maybe Bristol Rovers fans just don't know anything about football whatsoever. That's probably it.

He COULD be good - if it was up to me, we wouldn't be signing him, but he'd obviously get my full support if we did. Does my opinion matter? Not a jot, nor does anyone else's here.

It's worth noting that Rovers fans' thoughts on any of their players will be tempered by the fact they've been relegated out of the league.
