Sailing for me every time . Burton took me back to the seventies no drum no seats great day.

Fleetwood by the sea will be wondering why they didnt adopt it, but they're only a non league club at heart as we all know

It's My Life by No Doubt is marginally better than the Talk Talk version

its not re-living the past its a respect for tradition.

So stoke shouldn't sing Delilah, urinals annies song, west ham I'm forvever blowing bubbles, Liverpool you'll never walk alone either eh?

I grew up as a kid listening to sailing, molly Malone and the grass of saltergate......I loved them then, I love them now and I will always love them.

PS: Hope you're still not listening to motorhead, ac/dc, whitesnake, kiss etc as we don't want to live in the past now do we!Posted Image

Firstly. Rod Stewart himself sounds like he's doing his level best not to fall asleep when singing it. It's slow and boring.
It's fourty years old, hasn't been our anthem for twenty years and you get the hump on when I say leave it in the past.
Secondly. I really, really don't give a flying fig what anthem any other club have sung for god knows how long and still sing now.
Thirdly. Does it honestly make any difference what group I listen to? But if it does then I will tell you. Metallica.

Don't get offended because you get a semi to a song that I think should be left in the past. I'm sure there's gonna be plenty of stuff we wouldn't agree on aswell.
Life goes on. Whatever happens.

Don't know if anybody else has suggested it but do you think there's a chance we could get 'We Are Sailing' as our walk out song for Saturday? Have it echo round the ground with over 9,000 town fans singing it before kick off?

Just an idea!

Agree on this one.it was brilliant on Sunday.
We should have this song back as our anthem, like stokes Delilah

That attitude is why when these anthem thread make me think "oh no not again, just sort out a frigging tune we can all join in" and I'm one of those who prefer to watch my football in an atmosphere more akin to Queens Park on a sunny afternoon with the opposition 380 for 2

We should adopt the lowest common denominator otherwise there will never be consensus.
Accentuate th Positive, eliminate the negative

dont think theres any real history to it & us.
late 70s when it was a hit it was sung by virtually every crowd.
why we still sing it or hanker to sing it? no idea.

It was the number one single (1973) when the trend was to still adapt a decent chart hit into a song just like in the 60's e.g. Bachelor Boy (another one overdue an airing) this one just fitted without any adaptation, it suits the mood of being proud, loyal, united and sailing to victory, is loud and best of all unique, I don't recall hearing it sung by any other fans

It's been contorted in recent years by the likes of Millwall and MK Dons speeding it up and singing "no one likes us".

Genuine question, if not sailing then what?
If you do what you always do, you'll get what you always get.
