JDogg - in the end his agent will have made sure the Champ teams know all about him.
Ernie Ernie Ernie - what am amazing peice of revisionism - suddenly Davies is a freak show one-off and Donaldson is better and JS will go the extra mile as opposed to keep CD! I wonder how many board members buy this?
And??? I'll bet my house on the fact his agent did but that doesn't mean anyone of them were willing to take a punt on him which is more fool them if Davies can get a Championship side. Not that i'm saying Davies shouldn't but they are very simular size, skill & speed wise.
And as for the whole fees thing i get the impression that Shezza isn't against paying fees for the player but its the ridiculous agents fees he dosen't agree with.

Re fees - I expect we are paying signing on fees. I doubt we want to pay agents fees. I just wonder if fees paid to club and agent are flip sides of the same coin.
Anyhow I hope we get Doanladson as I struggle to see any other proven goal scorers.

Look at the size of the clubs in the Championship, their either big clubs with huge fan bases or club's with chairmen that dont mind spending the cash. With that being said most clubs in that league have the means to purchase a player that is proven at that level or higher not to mention the free agents knocking about that would easily cope in that division ie Phillps etc. So it would be a brave manager to take a punt on Donaldson when they could just has easily sign someone thats been there & done that in that league.
Now i'm not saying that Donaldson is good enough for the Championship cos i haven't seen enough of him but that doesn't mean that he's not. I personally think Davies is a big gamble for Hill at Barnsley & not many managers will be willing to risk it when nobody is safe in that league just ask Sheff Poo!
If a club deserves a fee thats fair & i'm sure Shezza is ok with that. If a free agent wants a signing on fee then ditto. But if a agent wants thousands for doing F all then Shezza is right to tell them to jog on! agent

Sorry chaps but as in life, an in the long run, you get what you pay for. Football is no different. To paint the extremes - Manager A buys all his players and Manager B can only go with frees (inc ooc). 99 times in 100 A will have a better squad and more success than B. Do you dispute this?

I mean look at man u, man city, Chelsea,Barcelona, qpr, Crawley, etc etc
Look at arsenal , not spending and falling away from those who do fast.
You are generally right in what your saying, however it does not guarantee success does it??

Agreed there are no guarantees. I guess in my time Man Utd ending up in the old Division 2 is perhaps the most obvious example.
