think so they assumed they didn't need a GK sub and therefore had a choice of 5 outfield subs

I'd start with him on saturday, Roche needs a rocket up the backside to waken him up.

No amount of rockets will waken him up. His problems stem from a serious lack of confidence leading to poor decision making. With a shaky defence and a suspect keeper we're asking for trouble. My daughter's under 13 team would score against us.

'One of the best shot-stoppers, if not the best in the division' is what some wag on here called him I seem to recall. Funny how when discussing a suspect keeper people usually trot out the old chestnut of him being 'a good shot-stopper.' I think this translates roughly into 'occassionally gets in the way of one, though still invariably spills it. Weak on crosses.'

I used to have a lot of faith in Roach but he - for me - is becoming increasingly frustrating. It is definately time for Jordan to be given a chance. We concede a hell of a lot of goals, and most of them are stupid goals...i.e. Donny away, stemming from lack of voice at the back. We need someone in goal to really command the back four. Roach is too quiet and barely commands himself. Jordan may not be the guy, but give him a chance at least, let's see what he's got...we've got nothing to lose by putting MJ in goal with Barry's form at the moment, and if Jordan fails, throw Roach back in, at least then he'll know he's actually got a replacement in waiting.

I don't think he's particularly weak on crosses in comparison to recent keepers.

Muggleton - got worse as he got older
Abbey - Shot Stopper, bad at crosses.
Mercer - Solid All Round
Pollitt - Best we've had in recent times.

I would put Roche between Pollitt & Mercer, which is not a bad thing.

Are you seriously suggesting you rate him alongside those two? You on something..?

How many keepers Barry's age are doing as well as him???

Another ******* in the making!

Give him a chance for christ's sake! He's learning his trade and does a pretty good account of himself! yes the odd mistake but saves far more points than he costs us! Surely a sign of a good keeper!

Give a couple of seasons he will be a fine keeper!

More pearls of wisdom from S-K. Roche is in his second season here and shows no signs of performing consistently to the required standard. We should have brought in an experienced custodian pre-season, with Roche as his understudy, but that option wasn't affordable for well-documented reasons.

The sign of a good keeper is one the defence has complete confidence in. Nuff said......
