King can't be our right back unless when he ventures forward others cover for him getting back in position.

Never been one and that’s part of the problem we’re hopefully resolving

I'd like to think that there is an announcement from the Club very soon to say that none of the 4 offered new contracts are going to sign them and, therefor, are looking at other options.

Similarly, we need to know that some, if not all, of those players placed on the transfer list are definately moving on.

Otherwise, our squad could be quite bloated with a potential 23 players before any further new signings.

Logically, Cook and the Club know what is happening regarding players but, for me, we need no more than 22 players with cover in each position. As such, assuming the 7 previously mentioned do leave, I believe we need a RB, a LCB, a strong defensive midfielder, a goal scoring right winger, and a GK.

That's down to 3 as Kellerman has already been on record as having rejected terms and left. Or have you been on holiday in a sensory deprivation taank?

I see Gyasi as the left side of the 3 behind Kabby. Rowe and Quigley are the back up for Kabby (one has fitness issues and the other isn’t up to it IMO). I’d like to see another striker through the door.

Yes Gyasi will play in the three if everyone's fit. He's also more than adequate cover up top. If budget is a concern, then we'd be far better off spending it on a winger who will start in our strongest XI on the opposite wing to Gyasi than on a striker who'll only play if Kabby's unavailable.

Interesting that Clements says he already knows Luke Croll when asked if he knows any of the current players.

I completely agree with what you think we still need. Though, I wouldn’t turn down Ollie Banks. Brockbank would be great as the great.

Come on guys how do we know how any of the new lads will fayre, again we are going way over board on whose arrived. I’ve seen Agysi once and am trusting that Cook knows what he’s doing.
God I hate this league.

Played with him while Clements was on loan at Dagenham

So, given where we are, do you agree with Cook's decision to freshen up the squad by swapping Maguire and Whittle for Clements and Horton?

I'm sad about Whittle but I think the two new boys overall will provide more quality.

No, I worked my 23 from 16 players, including Gyasi, 4 on the transfer list, and 3 offered terms but about which we have no confirmation one way or the other. That excludes Kellerman about whom there has been no comment from the Club.

Cook certainly seems to be increasing the average height of the defence with his signings so far.

Yeah, but strange thing to say unless Croll will be here next season.

Yes in a word, we have very little pace in the squad and defensively we were open to counter attacks, high balls in the area and we need goals. Add to these that we need to up the developement/investment in the squad they all have potential. The injuries have killed our going forward this season with most still having issues and then you can also look at the ages of the squad from last season.

.....that's another good discussion point.

Are we witnessing the rebirth of a proper U23/reserve team set up? If so, it's another great step forrad.

These lads would need successful game time to become attractive signings to others, I’d bet Cook gives them a start from the off especially if the bench is full of players who re accepted terms from last season.

Current best squad in a cookie style formation?

Loach
King Williams Grimes Clements

Oldaker Oyeleke

Khan Rowe Clarke

Tshimanga

Bench: Horton, Whelan, Quigley, Cook, Mandeville

Looks decent. Not including Gyasi for reasons in other thread and Banks because nothing confirmed yet.

If Gyasi doesn’t come we need width desperately and a starting calibre CB as priority imo. Presume Cook will also sign a number two to Loach.
