Alan Walters... ... top man! Thanks.

He put his head above the parapet when few would after the year in the Brown stuff, put his own money in to the club when it was most needed and continued to keep a close eye on the club's finances when it was most needed.
Alan's a mate of mine so many will feel my view is not fully objective, but there are few people since 1866 (1867 or 1919 depending on your view) that have done more to keep Chesterfield afloat.
He's made some decisions that haven't been spot on, who hasn't, but he's made every decision with the best intentions in mind and he's a hero in my eyes.
Enjoy your retirement Alan, you deserve it!
Phil

...now that will get people talking.
It will be very interesting to see who replaces him. Alan's no yes man, and we don't want anybody that is.

Alan used to work for the company I work for now and colleagues of mine who used to work with him have nothing but good things to say about him.
Enjoy your retirement Alan.

Absolutely agree with every word Phil has said.
I don't know of anyone that I could trust more
The work and commitment that Alan has given to the club is probably not fully appreciated.............but it should be !

He remains on the Board, thank goodness. I'd hate to see the CFC accounts delegated to some anonymous nobody within the bowels of the DA Group without scrutiny.

Yes thanks for everything Alan. Running a football club is a lot more than training 11 footballers to win a game, Its about behind the scenes where the finances need to be run correctly, our club seems to be very proffesionally run since the Darren Brown saga

I might be in a minority, but there was always a comfortable feeling about having a local, respected accountant involved with the current mix.

I hope this gets alot of replies.
I dont know Alan but I wish him v Happy retirement thank him (and all the people post darren brown) who did so much for the club when it was about to die.
A former landlord/housemate who knew Alan said he is as straight as a die. He said that when he heard that alan had had his season ticket personally returned to him by Darren Brown it was the first inkling he had that something was seriously wrong with the club. (BTW I hope my memory hasnt played me false with that last bit and I've got mixed up with someone else or said more than I should).

On the subject of the accounts, I see some of the Directors have recently loaned the Club an additional £150K (DCJ Ins £60K, AC £55K, MW £30K & PT £5K).

I got to know Alan a little after Brown's attempt to consign the club to history and witnessed the way he applied himself with focus, integrity and hard work. I've nothing but respect for him and he is one of 2 or 3 people who can indisputably claim to have saved the club. Thank you Alan
