My memories of the day include Tony's goal, the above but also the announcer just before kick off "come on the sadlers in 90mins we'll be in an automatic promotion place"
Also the town fans who travelled down in the old converted ambulance. They parked in the Walsall car park and after the match the entire van was going berserk.
However the funniest was the town fan who called David 'red hot soccer chat' Mellor who when asked where he was calling from simply said..
Taaan.

That was the following year I am afraid. The bloke (Martin O'Connor) did get back off the stretcher and then was instrumental in us losing 3-0.
Just thought I'd lighten the mood, like...

Beat me to it - I was gonna mention the announcer too but I thought it was "This is a historic day for Walsaaall Football Club!", proper bigging it up, like! :-D Totally hammered them. I stopped with a mate who was at Coventry Uni, and we video'd the local news, and played back "that slide" over and over again! Brilliant
