If he can play half of the games I think it’ll be a bonus, I still feel that he’ll be head and shoulders above most of the players in the division and I think he’ll have a massive influence on the younger players, along with the other experienced heads we have.

A fit Drew will be very useful to the squad but, having been to Tommy Lee's testimonial against Wigan, I am not confident where he would be guaranteed a starting position in the team.

We can only name a 16 man squad in the NFL and there will be a battle for the places on the bench.

The players on show left me with thoughts as to the best 16 and I came up with -

Jalal
Barry, Evans, Maguire, Binnon-Williams
Carter, Weston, Weir, Rowley
Ugwu, Hines

Bench: Anyon, Nelson, Smith, Shaw, Wedgbury or Muggleton or Talbot

So, unless there are injuries MA appears to have a strong squad and there are a few kids I would like to see being given a chance during the season.

I was quite impressed with most of the players I saw v Wigan, but I think you're getting things a bit out of proportion. IMO a 90% fit Drew Talbot is way ahead of any of the players you've listed. If he doesn't achieve and maintain the necessary fitness level, that's a different story.

You might be right but for me Drew has serious competition for RB, RWB, LB, LWB, RW and LW whilst I don't rate him as a CM. Consistency of performance will be the key.

He will be a very useful player in the squad if he keeps fit.

Completely agree about positions- he looks lost when he's played in the centre.

Drew had a decent 1st half today in difficult conditions, good to see him back.
