And there it is. Now come on club - a chance for more publicity after this weeks Maguire story, match the total and announce it everywhere as the game kicks off tomorrow....

I don’t see why the club should give away £2200 to match the total

DA may or may not do enough for charity already

Work out what it costs to advertise and then see if the publicity generated would have been worth more than the £2200 quid...

Plus of course the act of getting behind a cause and making it a team thing for both players and club is a great way to build team spirit... a fairly standard way used the world over. Sometimes small amounts (and in the scheme of things £2200 is...) to build that bond is a great thing to do - the fans have backed it big time, the club could continue building bridges with the fans by doing small things like this....

DA may do lots - but if he wants to build those bridges and get the fans and players on the same sheet, these things matter.

I STILL DON'T THINK THIS WILL BE OF INTEREST TO HIM.

I contributed along with many Spireites and well done to both fans and to Lisa. However I would not wish the club to give away 2k they can't afford as a publicity stunt.

Publicity stunt or great marketing opportunity and a chance to build some bridges with the community?

I guess we see things differently - I think £2k to get some good publicity, show them in a positive light and build some positive momentum with the community is a small price to pay. One weeks pay with on costs for one of the higher paid players this season.

And less than the price of a radio commercial on local radio, played over a couple of weeks (although RGS might be able to correct me on that - it’s a few years since I priced one up....)

Last radio commercial I was quoted from PEAK was £600 a month, I forget how long the deal ran.
