No where near first team? He played in the biggest local derby for years last year

And do you think he'll ever play another?

Have no idea! That's not the point. But he has done more than any of us have- pulled on a town shirt and played professional football.

I think the issue is that he was being touted as a success story along with a very dubious claim about Ovonwigun

and someone else (but he can't remember the name

He also claimed he pushed the DS through against strong opposition. Sounds to me like the club is pumping money in, really hope I'm wrong in that assumption

Why does anyone take notice of anything CT says? Proven time and time again he speaks rubbish and little more than half truths

Very convenient that Miles Wright has suddenly been handed a contract at the same time the DC's viability is allegedly being questioned.

And Orrell somehow a product? Maybe he parked his car there once. Same applies to Onovwigun.

Perhaps the two directors, Chris Turner and Liam Sutcliffe, could be asked just what links their supposedly stand-alone business has to CFC and if the Club have in any way subsidised it?

With signing Cairns isn't that 4 goalie we got

Because if you start looking at the detail of what he says everything starts to unravel and you end up with more questions

The truth will be in there somewhere

That doesn't always follow
TV series "Lost" being a case in point

Right I'm not privy to the PM's that no one wants to put public.

Obviously from what I can make out that a certain number of posters are basically saying that the CEO and a few others at the club are using a certain business venture to profit themselves while the club suffers. If I'm wrong then please tell me and then I can forget what I'm thinking. If it's tittle tattle then why not just shut up but I believe someone somewhere amongst these posters has heard something they take as gospel and the vendetta against CT has started ??

I think it's more a case of a stand alone venture losing money and may well end up having to be bailed out by CFC, rather than anyone making any personal financial gains as such.
To perhaps justify any bailout the club may have to undertake some players are being taken from the DC when perhaps otherwise they wouldn't and players from the clubs set up are being overlooked in favour of these other kids.
I don't think there is a suggestion of wrong doing for personal gain, but perhaps questionable recruitment of youth to justify a failing business entity.
A new hope.

In your opinion, why did CT cite the example of Chelsea FC making £400k (from memory) from it's Development Centre?. How does our DC provide an income stream?.

Could it be that CFC paid for building work at the digs and are now expecting a rental income?.

precisely. So why does CT refer to Chelsea's.?

My GUESS is that CFC own the Village, have done it up, and are expecting rental income. That might explain why CT had to overcome internal opposition at CFC to get the Centre going.

Perhaps Dalek Pete could fill us in?.

My understanding is the whole complex is owned by a third party, Dave, with the DC renting space.

My understanding is that Simply Gym own the CFCs village and rent it out to Mr Sutcliffe and Co. My son was one of the first "development Squad" group of lads and in my opinion it was a shambles. My opinion is it was set up as a money making venture, parents were asked at the time for £1000 up front and then £250 per month plus kits for the pleasure!! I believe the amount paid per month has gone up significantly now and with roughly 40 lads there I'll leave it up to you to do the maths. The main problem is there's no accountability if it's a stand alone set up but uses the name of Chesterfield FC people are under the impression it belongs to and is benefitial to the club, is it?

£250 a month!!!!
For a development squad? For what age?
It's usually £4 a session

(Is this for an Academy development squad (ie. Under 16's and below) or the college course?

If the development school is the further education college course (Btec or vocational) then it will be funded by grants not the club.
These college courses are everywhere now and have generally nothing to do with the club (apart from some club kit).
It's basically selling the dream for a few misguided boys (and parents) for a few more years.....

Being the parent of a boy who was offered this "chance" it wasn't long before it became apparent it wasn't what it said on the tin....disappointing.
