Don't juveniles not go dark headed for the first year or two?

Just to clarify for any interested folks,,,, the gulls in question are actually Lesser Black-backed Gulls. They started to appear towards the end of last season and have been around all summer. A small colony has taken up residence on a very close factory roof and at least 2 pairs have raised young, at least 4 youngsters were flying around during the Hull friendly last week.Whilst its not unusual for these gulls to nest inland, these are the first at that site and its one of the very few sites in Derbyshire where the have bred successfully. Not generally agressive birds unless defending their young, they are opportunist scavengers so it might pay to eat your pies on the concourse and not in your seat!!

Most common around here is the black headed gull, also see herring gulls, lesser black backed and occasional great black backed gulls, common gulls, the very odd Mediterranean gull, little gull or kittiwake may turn up too, have I missed any Mr F?

Could be yellow legged, glaucous, iceland, kumleons, sabines gulls.

If you've not heard the chesterfield post interview with chris turner, about 30 seconds in there is a huge chorus by some passing gulls of indeterminate breed.
