I have no idea what you do for a living but I'm sure you're lovely at it.
Reason I'm sticking my oar in on this thread as it's similar to what I do (so the only thing I'm qualified to moan about on a message board).
I've done my Eufa b and am doing my 'A'licence. Not because I want to coach the game or manage (shudder at the thought) but to increase my knowledge and improve what I do to be better at it.
Don't know why you think I have come across as being better than any manager because hell thats never the case. Every fan is an expert and believes they know better (look at any football forum on the 'net)! I rarely butt in on here about the footballing side (as apart from last 3 games have barely been all season).
I'm happy to be ridiculed at what I do do though (primarily by Warfey "googling hamstring injuries" is his favourite and mine) but believe me it's the one thing I am confident in spouting on about amongst a load of my other rubbish DTP

hamstring or ham sandwich

It's just that you saying about managers "they think they know best (except they don't)" got me thinking.

Anyway, now I am into my 70s I am beginning to get used to this retirement thing (wasn't easy at first so had to train well), fortunately I'm reasonably fit, take no prescribed medications, not overweight, have a varied diet as there is nothing I don't like, play 18 holes of golf twice a week, and still have a turn of pace over the first 10 yards!!

Anyway, good luck with the "A" Licence.

See what you mean ^ (I meant about the fitness side).
Some see it as a necessity, others see it as getting in the way of football.
Bigger picture is can a coach make a player who at say 30 years old and having had 18 years of technical coaching get better technically? Maybe so.

Can the same player get faster, fitter, be able to react to game situations quicker, fatigue less, recover from injury or avoid injury by putting in a bit of work with a specialist?
Absolutely

(I dream of being 70 and having the same lifestyle as you have- good luck to you!

Shinner might not want to come back

Once bitten, twice shy.
I'm assuming he's employed somewhere else and not 25st slumped at home On the settee watching Jezza Kyle in his underpants eating Pringles all day

deliberate no mention of contract length, are we to assume he the 'addition to the end of the season only' that AC alluded to yesterday?

Anyone ever seen his Dad, Fred Eyre, self deprecating ('nearly made it footballer') after dinner speaker? Very funny in his day. We are due a laugh or two.

Fred Eyres books are classics . One of his managers once said in a prematch team talk
Its very windy today so keep your high balls low

He was a self made millionare who sold out a stationary business after building it up from a humble beginning of a push bike as his delivery vehicle and his mother taking orders over the phone at home

One of Fred's ripostes was my old Dad's favourites.
Did you ever score a goal Fred?
Well I once had a ooooh.
An ooooh?
Yes, my shot rose just over the cross bar, and the crowd went 'ooooh'
