Why would he get an apology

Black bloke is every bit as offensive in this context as blackberry - probably more so

That's exactly how I saw it Mark. Dave, you need to check your messages before texting.

If I'd got a pound for everytime I've told him that lol!

Knowing Dave I'm sure it was a descriptive term rather than any implied racism

Description is not needed unless it's relevant to him feeling threatened

Again, not saying he's racist, just an ill thought out and offensive post

Should everyone who lives in the vicinity of Old Kent Road be offended aswell. I imagine by naming the road, it was intended to add to the story by the incident taking place in a rough-hole part of town, or should I say perceived rough-hole.

This whole thing has been blown totally out of proportion and its stuff like this that has historically made a mockery of genuine racist incidents that actually need addressing.

Society is doing, generally.

You think Warfey was being racist? Or do you think this is a totally unnecessary path for this thread to take?

I walked through Palmers Green today.
A Greek guy walked right past me.

Nothing happened but it's a great story

I think it's a funny path for it to take, don't think it was going anywhere else in a hurry tbh

Thank you for the most sensible comment on this thread, which is all based on a remark obviously not intended to be offensive, that has been blown out of all proportion by over-zealous PC fanatics. Racism and all other forms of bigotry are rightly to be condemned, this, however is overkill.

I am far from an over zealous PC fanatic

Simple fact is that if you add the race of someone to a story for no particular reason other than to emphasise how it made you feel then you are furthering racial stereotypes

The opening post did not need the word black - some bloke tapped on my window would have sufficed - the only reason to mention ethnicity is to qualify the rest of the story

Not accusing anyone of racism, just of a lack of thought and perpetuating stereotypes that can breed racism

Surely mentioning the persons gender is wrong too then as this is sexist
