Given that no-one has come forward stating their interest to buy the club, do you think we'd be better off without Ashley? Perhaps Mike Warner could take over the day to day running of the club given that he thinks we are a thriving business or maybe we should bring our illustrious DOF back in as CEO?

As bad as things are at our club, I think they would be worse if he left.
If only....

People have come forward with genuine interest to buy the club but all took a step back when £15 million was quoted.

Local people with the interests of the club at heart.

It is not however my place to start revealing identities.

My interpretation.

Consortium: 'We're interested in buying, please may we see the books.'

Allen: 'Show me proof of funds. By the way, it'll cost y' fifteen million.'

Consortium: 'Errr, well, we have the money and are still interested but we'll only talk properly when you quote a realistic price'.

Allen: 'Fifteen million'.

Consortium: 'Okay, we'll leave you with it...'.

The club requested proof of funding and it all went quiet. If they are serious about buying the club why haven't come out in public? They'd have no shortage of support from fans and local media. At no point have they made their interest public or have they rebuked the lack of funding accusation.

I agree.

Indeed if a group of respected locals incorporating genuine Town fans came forward - as I believe they are - it'd place incredible pressure on a hugely unpopular regime.

My advice would be to hold a press conference revealing their bid a.s.a.p.

now that would be interesting, a consortium plus 3-4,000 fans in partnership...

Absolutely

When Ashley was questioned on the asking price, he alluded that 15 million was the starting point. Any consortium would likely need a figure around that value anyway to address the current running costs and shortfalls, so why the silence from those with the club's best interests at heart when asked to step forward with proof of funding? I think we all know why.

Whilst any takeover would be met with an initial enthusiasm, it's what happens on the pitch that ultimately counts. and If results aren't being delivered then crowds will dwindle or costly changes have to be made.

Chris...the asking price is a joke....but not in a funny sense.....Allen should cut his losses now and save a shred of credibility with the supporters

Agree the asking price is way off, however if the asking price was £8 million ... whoever was buying would need a fortune of a hundred odd million plus to run a football club and not feel the loss of funds that are required to run the club year on year.

There's no serious local interest in buying the club for £15 million or £8 million... there is interest in "having a look at the books"... but you can't blame Allen/Carson for not wasting their time opening discussions with someone who can't provide proof of having at least £15 million...

As for a consortium of fans taking over the club ... no thanks... we'd be heading to the evo stik at a much faster trajectory than we already are!

I think Allen needs to stop this "no further comment" business and come back out to speak about this £15m. At least it adds clarification and makes him look a bit more credible. Most of Leagues 1 and 2 know about our problem now - and fans I've spoken to are ,in the main, sympathetic. what Allen cannot do is simply hold the club to ransom, which serves no purpose to him or fans or anyone else in the short, medium or long term.

For now Ashley Carson is the only option for Chesterfield FC but if he as any standing with Allen at all he should be asking him to show some realism about how much a sale of a failing about to be League 2 will fetch. I know we have to avoid a Darren Brown situation and assurances have to be sought but crippling the club even further won't get a buyer.please wake up and smell the coffee.

The Darren Brown comparisons are hardly fair are they?

Brown was an out and out criminal- a villain who lied and robbed the Club.

DA and AC have given the club good times but have been undone by some eye watering stupid decisions which don't seem like changing (like having faith in serial failure CT).

Chris was out of his depth from day one, he was a fool taking the job on knowing his limitations and the experiences at Hartlepool. Don't forget there were pr- DA issues which came out of the woodwork that sure board members were aware of.

>Phone rings<

'Hello, Chris Turner's line'.

'Hello Chris it's Dave Allen and I want you to become CEO at Chesterfield. It's eighty grand plus car and summat in it for you when we sell a player.'

'Errr, sorry Dave, but after what happened at Hartlepool I'll have to decline. There's a job going down at Tesco collecting trolleys, I reckon that's me, now.'

Or...
