A good mile or so inside Derbyshire I'd guess looking at a map. Why?

Debating it at work. I say Staffordshire. The Izaak Walton hotel, it's addressed as Staffordshire. I just think we claim it but it's actually on the Stafford side of the river.

I've dragged out the Derbyshire street atlas - you are correct the River Dove forms the border. Google earth doesn't make it clear which side of the river the car park is on though. If I had to guess I'd say it's to the West in a crook of the river bend.

Sorry, Dovedale is in both Staffordshire and Derbyshire both counties being separated by the river Dove. West of the river = Staffordshire, East = Derbyshire. Therefore the car park is in Staffordshire. I won the bet at work :-)

My money is almost certainly Staffs.

The old chap who owned the land years ago used to sit there taking the money even when the car park was full.
