By which time he'd be 24 so could leave on a free I presume? Ah well.

This is the issue. Any player coming up to 24 years old know they can walk for free for the best offer on the table. Clubs are then criticised for selling their best players yet would be further criticised if said players go for nothing at the end of a season for a better contract.

The Bosman ruling might work in respect of young players that have been at a club since early teens but I'm not so sure it is quite right for late developers.

In some respects, therefor, Peterboroughs policy of transfer listing any player in their final year of contract makes financial sense.

DD is a decent player. Wouldn't say outstanding but I suppose 200k only buys potential nowadays. He's got a good attitude though which goes a long way and will be grateful for a second bite at the cherry. Good luck to him.

So , over the last 3 years, what's the value(price) of players sold + plus sell ons?? This must be, when Clucas gets sold, over £5m. If we want to go anywhere, Allen has to support the manager with some players. This is the worst squad I can remember since 1982 or 1988.

Have you forgotten last years squad?

I think it makes sense to sell Donohue, dont think the player particularly enjoys playing for CFC and in last year of contract.

Wouldn't make sense to sell him before the weekend though as we would have nobody to play at left back.

Any different from keeping and playing a player who knows he is off after the game?!

Good point but I reckon we're worse off now in some respects.

Good point. Just worries me we will be left with nobody who can play left back. JBW out, Maguire horrendous at left back and was poor at County, Wiseman slow, Barry right footed

Apparently the fee for DD is 70k rising to 200k with clauses. Not his biggest fan but 70k seems pointless for the only current player who can play at left back for us.

Flores confirmed as a season long loan which is at least something.

Thanks to Cookie I guess.

According to the article confirming Flores signing :-

"Flores, 21, is a versatile player who can play either in midfield or on the left-hand side of defence."

Looks like Flores is gonna go straight in at LWB then. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Only we would sell a central midfielder who has played mostly at left back for us and replace him with a central midfielder who we will now utilise at left back. :glare:

Here's a novel idea, why not sign an actual left back?

That would make far too much sense

Loanee in, contract player out. The cost cutting continues.

Hopefully it leaves enough room to actually bring in a wide player. The lack of width and pace on the wings is going to kill us if we don't sign anyone there.
If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything!
