So, what is GC most likely to do with this week's opportunity?
The most obvious thing to me is that having Wiseman on the LHS is not ideal, and I think that's where he will strengthen - a big left sided defender who can also capably replace Evo if owt happens.
I have to say I'm a bit uneasy about Barry anawl. I'm not convinced he's as good as McGinn, but if Wiseman moves over that problem goes away.

Dunno why folk disapprove of you saying the blindingly obvious, Dave.
Perhaps we should paint it in neon letters on the Main Stand - WE NEED COVER AT LEFT BACK!!!
That allows Wiseman to assume his more natural position and the left midfielder to be more progressive.
One other asset we're lacking is pace, the kind of player who can turn defence into attack within moments. I've seen no one in a blue shirt this season that can do that, so with wedge from Donahue's exit and sell-on clauses to come that's where I'd hope it's invested.

That might be his take on it.
However Ashley Carson clearly stated in a conversation that I witnessed yesterday that the Donohue fee which he confirmed as £75k and the Ched Evans fee (£500k) paid at £60k a month plus any sell on fee from Sam Clucas moving would be used to make up any monthly shortfall to save him having to ask Dave Allen for more cash.

I agree with this prudence. This windfall should enable Ashley to stabilise the club's finances if he is also adhering to his master plan of working with a 5k attendance budget, as well as getting in the 2 players we need to complete the squad. What a bonus it will be if Connor D can find another club, as rumours suggest.
I see investment in the Academy with another recruit this morning and in my opinion us, the fans, have been instrumental in inverting the planning and budgeting thinking there to save it from oblivion.
My own personal opinion is also that the structure under Caldwell is progressing nicely, probably in spite of Ashley, but CG is a strong willed character who won't take any Bunkum.
So we are left with the admin. Still a shambles with nobody in charge.

No reserve side in League this season http://www.derbyshir...eason-1-8706594
"Chesterfield won’t field a reserve team in the Central League Cup this season, but when a second string side is in action, Gary Caldwell says he may take charge." Or, at least, someone down on the team sheet as "Gary Caldwell" will take charge.

I thought the purpose of reserves was to give players not picked for the first team a chance
to get pitch time and keep up fitness levels.
He says no one is available now Richie has gone, but surely the Assistant Manager can do the job ?

Think there is a difference between an official reserve team in a league etc and none at all. I suspect it will be like the other year where reserve games are arranged accordingly to give people games etc.

Given that for the second half of last season, there were a number of the first team squad who were fit but not selected for league games, who weren't then included in any mid-week reserve fixtures either.
I'd imagine we'll continue with behind closed doors friendlies where the need and opportunity arises, like we did against Northampton on Monday.
Presumably, its also another one of AC's cost-cutting measures.
