However it was still a stupid bit of business, he was under contract with us, his stock was high and if kept all season he would have finished the divisions leading scorer ( even if he had only scored from the spot) and may ,just may, have helped us obtain more points.
It was almost certain that the fee we would have got would have not been lower, most likely higher as he could have been a 30 goal man.
It remains another poor decision regardless of his form since

On the other hand, we became a better team with Clucas in his position and Sam's value increased.

Tend to agree. Not gonna whinge about it now but they were my feelings at the time and they're the same now.

We will never know as DA decided enough was enough and the rest is recent history .
A season in the championship would have been good, something I fear we may never experience, right now being a top league two side would do !!
