Reading through many posts and threads over the last couple of days, should he still have a job at Chesterfield FC?

If money is tight like we are lead to believe then surely he's a luxury we cant afford. Mondays statement will either confirm or deny that.

Surprised how quickly CT's star appears to have fallen on here. My impression when reading previous posts from last season was that most of you thought he was some kind of genius in the transfer market, when brokering deals?

Wouldn't it be best to wait for a statement from the club before we start to draw conclusions and apportion any possible blame?

Sorry, don't see how your reply relates to my post? In no way was I apportioning blame to CT, or anyone else. Simply pointing out how fickle most posters on here appear to be on this matter.

DA must believe CT is of financial benefit to the club

........Or it could be that CT was the cheapest one available. Don't believe either of us knows the real answer for sure.

why does it make them fickle . I like most thought ct was doing a good job getting players on affordable wages and moving the club forward if it turns out to be true whats been said on here over the last 24 hours well then ct has made some mistakes then could cost the club its place in league 1 . like I said why does that make us fickle

Do we actually have a club accountant that can be consulted on wages / budget issues, or is CT expected to bring players in, broker deals AND calculate the effects on finances going forward etc all on his own ? Is he expected to do all the various cost projections and calculate the effects on next seasons budget etc all on his own, without sound financial advice to hand ?? .... Genuine questions.

If he actually IS expected to do the lot, are we being fair at levelling all this criticism in his direction and making him the scape goat for the obvious financial short comings ?

Perhaps we should be asking who is the club accountant here and not pointing the finger at CT. If there is no club accountant to help in these matters, then maybe we should be asking why not.

I would say anyone who is negotiating contracts should be able to do this, the maths aren't that difficult.

Figures below are for illustrative purposes only

Your wage budget is set at 1.25M and you know it is dropping by 0.05M next season.

What is you budget for next year?
Answer, 1.2M

You release players freeing up 0.2M
You know each of your players have 10% promotion bonus

How much of your budget is left?
Answer 0.1M

Now you sign a player for 0.05M and renogociate contracts costing another 0.05M

How much of your budget is left?
Answer 0M

Do you hold interviews stating we need 3 new players
Answer, No

You don't need an accountant to do that kind of maths. Turner should be able to that on the back of a fag packet but as we know he can't string two sentences together, so why should his maths be any better

Is hazard a guess the total for the released players from last season was much more than £200k, probably more like double that.

Granted ... But I think the point he is making is that CT in theory SHOULD have been able to do the maths, which I can accept to a degree .... however the point I am making is that a successful business would normally employ an accountant or person / persons who can give advice during negotiations and put the brakes on, if need be, before the CEO goes headlong into offering deals the club cannot really afford.

..... " No, we can't offer him, him and him that much without compromising the budget this coming season ! "

Or, was the advice forthcoming and we decided to go ahead anyway ??
