Well that’s not really true. ‘We don’t know what grant we will be getting’. We do now, zilch.

And if they stop the league we will have zero income and 11 players to pay who cant be furloughed...

Lets hope the NL dont make a decision that suits the part timers more than the full timers (part timers being furloughed might still be in their day job... although I dont think you can be furloughed from two jobs...)

That’s something worth a look up. In fact it seems you can be. From HM Government’s website:
If you currently have more than one employer- if you have more than one employer, you can be furloughed for each job. Each job is separate and the £2,500 monthly cap applies to each one.

As you say it will suit the part time clubs.

Really? I didn't get that out of the podcast at all. When the trust took over we were losing money month over month and during a pandemic with no fans I do not believe that will have been improved.

I was also highly concerned even at the prospect of borrowing "a bit" of next seasons season ticket sales for the current seasons transfer dealings in all honesty.

I don’t get the idea that paying off some players is going to save cash, as the podcasts seemed to suggest. I thought the days of agreeing settlements to less than the value of the outstanding contract were over, as the tax man wants full dollar. Surely we need to offload the unwanted players to other clubs and get them to take over the contracts- even then, aren’t we liable to pay up the outstanding part of the contract unless the player has requested a move?
These go to eleven.

If they are over, it’s nothing to do with HMRC. As long as the due tax is paid their interest ends.

What I mean is, I thought that in the past a settlement for less than the value of the outstanding contract could be agreed, and players therefore paid off more cheaply than it would cost to keep them on the books. This reduces the amount changing hands, and the tax due, and I thought this type of arrangement had been outlawed. I thought HMRC had driven that move but may be mistaken.

Are you the same bigdavethemaddog operating on the Gloucester forum too? Quite a recognisable username for various CFC related reasons.

Dave Allen? Perhaps that what Ashley Carson was referring to when he said let's review the success if the handover to The Trust at the end of the season?

So was I

However thinking about it, if we replace 10 players on £1200 with 10 on £800 then the borrowed bit is already paid back.
A new hope.

And the continuation of less to pay out during the lengths of the new contracts

If we have finally got back in the football league by then then who knows with the contracts at that time

Time will tell I suppose
