I have, watched Town friendly there in 90s at York Street

I went to that one, it was the pre-season of 91/92 when we signed Neil Grayson who looked absolutely fantastic and scored a hat full in the pre-season games, all his goals were celebrated with an acrobatic multiple reverse flip (I don’t know the technical term?)

Typically, as I recall he then went on to score absolutely no goals in competitive games. Remember him missing an open goal when he’d rounded the keeper in what would have been the second game of the season away at Stoke’s old Victoria Ground, in first leg of league cup round 1.

Stoke tried to storm the saltergate social club in the return leg before the game, as I am sure anyone who was in there at the time will recall.

New ground is a couple of miles out of town with no pubs anywhere near.
Just a new housing estate across the road.

Not been done in the cheap has it, seems like a lot of investment going on there on and off the pitch

12 million development but there is land adjacent. 5k all seater COMMUNITY STADIA.

That would put our stadia cost a steal at 13 million for twice the capacity.

There were lots of pre-season friendlies when John Blackwell was the club secretary.
The town is in a sorry state. When I used to be a regular visitor to York Street in the 1990's I loved visiting Boston.
The decline is just as much about putting in a Bunkum shopping centre as anything else. It previously was a tidy agriculturally backed market town with lots of small and unusual shops. Now most of them have gone leaving a dishevelled feeling, oldrids looks like it hasn't had any money spent on it since the 1980's, and the only new retail is an influx of polish and other Eastern European shops to service all the agr. workers.
I don't remember any games other than friendlies, but I've been watching boston united longer than Chesterfield.

We've played a total of seven friendlies at York Street 55/6, 56/7, 74/5, 84/5, 92/3, 93/4, 18/19.

Doesn't surprise me, back them the imbecile Naughty Forty (pronounced En Four Oh) were causing problems everywhere. I happen to know a couple of them. Yes that was the game Lancaster scored in, and Leonard got sent off.

As for Boston, yes interesting draw, been to the old ground once - shame it is going or gone. Have they definitely moved out?

send a weakened side, get some players some pitch time and not be too fussed if we lose?

I'll be fussed if we lose!!! I want us to win every game we play. Plus it keeps some sort of momentum going under the new manager.

I’m with you on that, winning is a good habit to keep.

We currently on a losing streak lol

I just think with the build up of fixtures (were already looking at a midweek game every other week on average) and we could yet have more postponments as the season progressess, I'm not sure a 'cup run' is exacty what we need.

I understand where you are coming from as promotion should be the main aim but any additional income opportunities should not be ignored eg extra streams and cash for progressing

and we also have the snow to contend with now.... if this keeps up I can see a few games off this weekend with snow and frozen pitches.... so the fixture congestion backlog goes on and on .....

I think Kabia played for Boston

He did, he was there yonks. I went to Matlock one night when he was in their team alongside Albert Phelan and Johnny Moyes. Some nob had a go at him from the cricket pitch end, there was only a single boundary rail then, and Jim went under it and grabbed the bloke by the throat.

Matlock team had Stotty, Brian Arblaster and all 3 Fenoughtys.

Got to say that Boston have done a good job of their main stand. As well as the main function room they have a couple of nice looking less formal bars

Probably what we could do with
