Must admit, I consider Asante's third to be a solo goal. The pass to him hardly assisted him in scoring, did it?

Assist is just the last pass/cross before the goal. Can be a raking 30 yard through ball or a 5 yard pass to a teammate who belts it in from 30 yards, both go down as assists.

Yes, I know how it works Goku. It's just that in cases like Asanti's third the ball out wide did the square root of nowt in assisting Akwasi scoring that goal. Determination in keeping the ball in play twice and sheer will power kept him going until he smelled the chance to score, and so he did. Just like the comparible Dave Waller goal - who assisted that? I can't remember, but I'll remember the goal whilst ever I've got a memory as it was a great individual goal.

Agree, Asante's hat-trick goal was all down to his skill, pace, determination and attitude. For me, the most incredible thing about it is that it started with Asante helping to break up a Barnet attack just outside OUR penalty area. He then, without hesitation, raced forward, shrugged off a challenge, just kept the ball in twice, and never stopped running until he'd stuck the ball into the back of the net. With players showing that attitude, and a manager who motivates his players to put that amount of effort in, we can look forward to a much brighter future.
