Maguire had one just after Rowe as well that looked close although i was in the West Stand rather than behind the goal so unsure if was as close as it looked.

Yeah I'm the same not far from the dugouts in the "main" stand

The rule for throw-ins seems to be that you must start from roughly where the ball went out, but can have a ten yard run to build up a bit of momentum. Not seen it punished for years now.

What about the rule for pushing, shoving, holding in the penalty area from a corner.

Standard procedure is that the ref will occasionally have a word about it with a couple of players prior to the kick being taken and then ignore them doing it immediately after said chat.

Looks like they've swapped the previous agreement and it's now the more sensible method of 'if Rowe is on the pitch, he takes them'.

On a different note, that Mandeville shot would've been gorgeous if it had dipped just a bit more.

To be fair to refs, there's so many bodies packed into the area for free kicks/corners, and so much jostling, grabbing, pulling, pushing etc that it's absolutely impossible to stop play for everything without taking 10 minutes to get the kick taken.

Like many of things that should happen they seem to clamp down for a bit and then things go back to normal. Years ago loads of penalties were made to be retaken for keepers coming off their line then it stopped again bar the odd game where VAR is involved, we had a run on shirt pulling, hugging etc at set pieces during the World Cup in Russia as we benefited from it then its gone again. Suspect at some point they may have a run at ropey throw ins for a while then let it go back to normal although at the moment its probably more a case of trying to figure what is hand ball, what is offside etc where VAR is involved. The handball in the Cardiff\Boro game at the weekend was embarrassing.

Did anyone else notice the large amount of unpunished foul throws yesterday, especially Chesterfield players

Had a close look on the highlights at the two featuring Whittle, both of which I thought were foul throws real time, and they are not.
Two other things that struck me .....
Evans's shot wasn't, in fact, a thunderbolt. Maybe Loache had too much time and was considering his next move, rather than concentrating on saving it.

Mad Gav's captain's qualities stand out a mile. Shades of Dan Archer.
Get it on, bang the gong , get it on

I Always think that the word with a couple of the players just before the kick is taken is aimed at the asessor in the stand to make him think that the referee is in charge of events but as you say does nothing about what happens afterwards

That's about right. A tick in the game management box.
