Bought out by an 80% (i believe)backed Saudi buyout, I'm sure their human rights record is fine with the Premier league fit snd proper ...

What did make me laff tho, was the chairman of their supporters Trust on the BBC breakfast show, trying to tell everybody about how their club has been run into the ground, and it will be good for the fans to get it back...

What!! Run into the ground.. lower/midtable premier league, try putting up with what we've endured or the likes of Macclesfield/bury/Southend atm, or any number of ex league clubs in the non league set up...

He doesn't know how lucky he is.

Well that is until he gets caught nicking a sandwich off the buffet, and they chop his hands off... 🤣

Both Hands! What happens if it’s only a finger sandwich

Anyway Saudi has modernised, more likely they’d chop you up and render you down in a vat of acid.

Any manager not performing for them will be worried if invited to Saudi for a meeting.
I wonder where Mike Ashley will end up if he wants to get back into football

“ The Premier League has now received legally binding assurances that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will not control Newcastle United Football Club.”
Meanwhile, I’ve provided legally binding assurances to the Premier League that my rectum has no connection to my anus.
These go to eleven.

Not sure why you are so upset about these kind of things in footy. We sell massive amount of arms to them so they can slaughter their enemies.

I’m not a fan of arms sales either, strangely enough.
I used to love football but it amazes me how people (eg Newcastle fans) are willing to turn a blind eye to what happens in Saudi so long as they find some new signings. Priorities are all over the place.

Once Saudi sorted out the pirating of premier league games the prem were always going to ok them. Human right abuses come a poor second to anyone doing the prem out of a few quid.

I suspect we’d take money from the gulf states or Russian Oligarchs or drugs cartels washing their money and anyone on here opposing it would be crucified.

It’s just an other indicator of lower standards throughout society in general.

Their tales of woe are sickening. Great city but deluded and self-pitying fans.

Nothing like thousands of Geordies today singing “we’ve got our club back” with not one sense of irony

If Mike Ashley decided to buy Town and pump in a few million, I'm not sure many folk would be bothered.

I was always under the impression that Newcastle were run very well financially and didn’t make a loss.

What he should say is Mike Ashley used Newcastle as a free advertising vehicle to promote his other business interests. And didn’t spunk millions of his own money chasing the dream.
A new hope.

This pretty much, the reason the fans didnt like him was a stream of uninspiring managers and not shovelling loads of cash in on players. He ran them probably like many more clubs should be ran but fans very rarely look at it like that and want millions spent on players etc. Benitez aside they had to put up with Pardew, Joe Kinnear, Steve Bruce when they think, rightly or wrongly, they are a bigger club that can attract bigger names as manager. There was also the bizarre Dennis Wise spell!!

They probably in a club of one in terms of PL clubs turning a profit. Ran fairly shrewdly I guess, albeit with zero investment.

Filthy regime that should really have no place in English football

Maybe Mike Ashley could buy out the Trust

Maybe phraised it wrong but their books make an interesting read. Turned a profit in a league were losing £100m a year is standard. Of course it depends what you define as a success - winning things or making money but Ashley has arguable ran a really tight ship over the years - outgoings always outweighing incomings and still managed to compete by and large.

The investment he has made has been shrewd in infrastructure rather than on players (academy mainly I think) which I reckon is exempt from any FFP as well

https://twitter.com/...2258613254?s=20

That said they are a big club who arguably with a bit more investment/risk taking/loss making etc should be at least competing for Top6/8 every year instead of struggling. Be interesting to see how this pans out as they could certainly go big and become challengers with their new owners alleged wealth
