What are the agenda then of the owners of PSG, Man Citeh and now the Geordie boys? Let alone Emirates airline who sponsor the shirts of a host of top teams across Europe as well as Arsenal.

Sportswashing. Hope it backfires by bringing to global attention the things that go on in Saudi, Qatar etc.
These go to eleven.

The ripples spread alot further than Qatar. In the Himalaya a couple of years ago, if you asked the villagers how they managed on subsistence farming several days walk from the nearest road-end, they'd tell you it was a good way of life until the men heard about the big money available for construction workers in Quatar and, understandably, left to get it.
Not many will be going back. We should all be ashamed to be supporting this madness.

So, you don't think you'll be a hypocrite if you watch it? You don't think the England footballers and especially Southgate will be hypocrites if they attend the tournament?

Actually, being so vociferous about supporting the economic migrants crossing The Channel, BLM and taking the knee, etc; I'm somewhat surprised (not remotely surprised) that you've (and EOC) not been campaigning for a boycott of the WC. How odd 🤔✊🏾🏳️‍🌈👳🏿‍♂️

https://www.theguard...-world-cup-2022

And wow! This is a 'lefty' paper I've used for my source.

If you do watch it and don't back a boycott, It'll make an absolute mockery of everything you've said on the above issues I've highlighted.

Don't worry, though; EOC will listen to James O'Brien, who'll come up with some diatribe to discredit those questioning your stance and excuse the hypocrisy of it, and he'll save you both.

In fairness to beckham no one can accuse him of double standards as the only standard he has ever had is the promotion of himself & brand beckham.
If you have the money beckham will whore himself out.

Interesting interview with Lineker this morning on this morning!
He agreed that it was wrong for the world Cup to be where loads of human rights abuses occur but said despite that I'm paid to report on it
But he did talk about how good it would be if more players came out like the guy in Australia
Would be interesting, would they be allowed into Qatar as its illegal there

Of course they’d be allowed there- the same as the Qatar world champs a couple of years ago and the Winter Olympics in Sochi.
These laws are lifted for a major event.

So, you use a humanitarian disaster as a means of having a pop at a footballer because he made sure sure that poor kids got fed during a mismanaged pandemic?
Right ray of sunlight aren't you?

Summat tells me this thread'll be heading over to the 'Personal' section pretty soon...

Any chance of a 'Vile Drivel' section?

There’s already a thread of that type in the personal section, it masquerades under the name “The Tory Scum Thread

One or the longest threads on the forum. Those Tory scumbags provide endless ammunition, what can I say.

I'm very much in the minority here but will probably go to Qatar as I go most places where I can watching England. Read this on a bit of a different approach for accommodation for fans - https://englandsdrea...ation-briefing/

Even more disgusting than the horrible Qatar world cup some brain box at FIFA said fans want a world cup every two years. I'd love to know who they asked because I definitely wouldn't want a world cup every two years it would ruin it, but then again money talks louder.

I's ungair to single out F1.
What about FIFA with the upcoming world cup? IOC and their love affair with China, who are guilty of genocide in Xingiang, Tibet and Jailing people in HKG just for saying they want a vote.
The FA with their multi million pound TV rights sold to China, Saudi UAE etc.
Same goes to The NBA, PGA. The list in sport is endless as is the list of businesses from Apple, Coca Cola, KFC, again the list is endless.

Show me the monwy and I'll forget the killings, imprisonments and lack of democracy and basic human rights.
