Its the off season, lets have a bit of fun. Cant remember if this has been done before but what the hell...

Pick your best 2 CFC goalies and I will collate the results from this thread. Over the next few days? weeks? months? I'll put up a thread for each position and eventually we should have enough for a CFC ultimate XI and 7 subs. Might even have to vote for a gaffer.

This was partly inspired by a random conversation on WhatsApp and it really got me thinking how much variance there would be between fans (especially of different generations so I'm expecting some recency bias) or if there were some consensus stand outs at certain positions. Lets see how it goes!

My 2 GK:

Billy Mercer
Gordon Banks
Guess I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue!

Best have to be banks and oggy

Best I’ve seen would be Turner and Mercer.
A new hope.

Best I have seen was Mercer and a wild card here, the loan signing Fulop.

Tommy Lee, and controversially
Mick Leonard 😁

No rules about whether you've seen them play or not, closest I got To seeing Gordon Banks play was when I served him a toasted tea cake when I worked in a hotel supporting my studies.

Just pick 2 based on what ever criteria you like.
Guess I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue!

Billy Mercer and Tommy Lee for me.

Lee’s contribution to a couple of very good teams in the recent past under Sheridan and Cook cannot be underestimated. He was as vital to our success as the likes of Davies and Lester under Sheridan and Ryan and Morsy under Cook.

I suppose you have to go for Gordon Banks seeing as he's one of Englands greatest never mind ours. Tommy Lee as second choice as he is my personal favourite (best I've seen were probably him, Mercer and Pollitt). Other positions will likely be players I have seen as saying the World Cup winning goalie is the best is a bit different to saying some seventies player I have no clue about is

Depends how you view greatest for us, yes banks had and outstanding career and won a World Cup but only played 20 or so games for us. Based on who’ve I’ve seen it’s probably Mercer and Tommy Lee although Fulop was really good as well.

Forgot about Pollitt, he’d probably pop Tommy into my top 2 with mercer.
