Earlier in this thread, did someone quote he was 13k at Birmingham? If that's the case, we wont be signing him. I very much hope we can, but the wages will be stupid.

Even if we offer 5k, can't see him accepting for more than half his wages to be cut for sentimental reasons. He must have financial commitments and one eye on the future, even being a footballer.

Would anyone pay him anything approaching 13k now with his recent history of failing in the Championship and having a decent season for a struggling L1 side?

I think 5k is about right.

Agreed, I don't think hes a 13k a week player. But I could see a newly promoted/top L1 side chancing around 7-8k on him.

There will certainly be a lot of interest in free agent Novak. Could imagine the likes of Walsall, Northampton, Oxford, possibly Burton all weighing up the situation.

Sheffield utd, Coventry Bolton. He's 27 not 37.
A new hope.

I don't think any of us will ever know what individual players actually earn. They will have a basic followed by numerous bonus incentives. However, re Novak, I heard from someone linked to the club that he was on £10k. £6k paid by us and £4K by Bham. If no one came in for him I think a 3 year deal in £6K a week would be good for him and affordable ish for the club (especially if we let SEB go).

However, I see Novak going to a club with genuine Championship aspiration such as Wigan/Shef U/Rotherham/Bolton etc. If we managed to convince him it would be one of the best signings in a long time Imo.

Very astute committing us to 3ys at 300k when we could be L2

Who knows what a failed Championship player is worth

Great player and I've voted for him as POTY but I hope we don't put all our eggs in one basket

I really can't see us paying Novak almost 1 million pounds for 3 years. Around 7k per game.
Show class, have pride, and display character. If you do, winning takes care of itself.

As long as DA is happy to fund it  over and above the cost of a competitive squad I'd be happy enough

Most contracts nowadays would have a reduction clause for if we got relegated.

One of the players said it was about a 20% decrease for relegation

I thought Drew stayed mainly for family, a young one similar to Novak. Transferring that logic, Lee will be playing for Walsall or Burton next season.

Whilst being offered ore money is nice, if you have to uproot your family, especially if they are young it might have a lot more sway than those people without kids/wifes think
