Done that championship thing with SEB and look how that ended up. There's a reason they get left. It's a very expensive gamble that we can't afford.

Technically SEB was League One before we signed him not Championship...he was on the books of Preston prior to signing for us and hasnt been a Championship player since the season before that when he featured 9 times for Ipswich between Feb and April!

On the other hand Novak.its all a gamble.and seb got 10 goals in 30 games not bad in a struggling side . am not talking of silly money on players.just think we should be looking more at players that already got league experience.

Here is the League One 'Released' thread, again with a fair few opinions on players still under contract and returning loanees:

http://onefootballfo...act-2016.10881/

Again, O'Connor at Vale crops up as wanting to move nearer to home in Lincoln, though I'm not sure we'd count on that front. Interesting to see that Ed Upson is not considered worth keeping at Millwall.

If he wants to remain in League One, the likeliest teams will be us, SUFC, (about equidistant) and the nearest, Scunny- at about 28 miles v about 42 miles. Has played at Scunny before, so perhaps looking to go back there. Can't recall seeing him play, (he missed both games against us this season) but seems to be well liked by Vale fans.

When he was told the news that he could leave Milwall he took it badly and the manager had say to him "Keep your Ed Upson"

That's a fair point. But if your not going to sign Championship players how can you expect to challenge for a place in the Championship? There's no way you can do it on a team of players signed from league two and lower without having that extra bit of Championship class.
Life goes on. Whatever happens.

Haven't Leicester shown the merits of keeping together the bulk of a good team from a lower level? Not that we have a good team now- the side we had a year ago may well have made the step up together, given the chance.
These go to eleven.

Why not? Half the distance and half the travelling time I would have thought.

Walsall and Burton have made a damned good go at it.

Course you can - look at Walsall's 3 best players Sawyers, Bradshaw and Henry.

Sawyers picked up from West Broms youth team.
Bradshaw signed for 50k when Shrewsbury got relegated to L2.
Henry brought up through the youth team.

Have a look at the whole squad and you'll find that there's players who have Premiership, Championship experience.
Burton have two players who have championship experience in their first eleven aswell.
I didn't say they need a team full of championship experience but they need some.

Burton have got a grand total of 9 championship games between their first eleven.

We've got a player who was an ever present in the Premiership for a year.

Go figure.

On what we have seen, why would his performances convince any club to race for his signature.
God I hate this league.

It would just cost him an extra 80p a day going over Dunham toll bridge :windup

Been over it today

I'd happily take Neil Kilkenny and Franck Moussa. Both good players.
