Why has the club not been run to give it every chance of treading water or even to make a profit? We are not talking about a few months of mismanagement this has been going on for years.

That is the $10,000 question - it is indeed a mystery and the explanation may never come to light. Unless there's a warts-and-all expose by someone like Chris Turner in a few years time
If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

I expect that is the net bill not including the severance pay costs for the released players

Implying that any benefits of cost-cutting won't be felt until after this financial year? Maybe not for several years?

I was beaten to the answer .

I suspect many factors, the main one being the mercurial nature of our owner who as the "money man" has made or at least influenced a few wrong calls !!!

Other than wearing shirts with a giant bull's eye on the front we couldn't have done much more to make ourselves targets than already having the best ground, we won our first three games, Martin Allen cornered all the news, and once Salford had the wisdom to lose matches, the bookies latched on to us and made us red-hot favourites.

Relegated teams tend to struggle, especially if they come down to this level in disarray. Even Bristol Rovers fell out of the blocks.

Clubs for whom playing at this level is an achievement feed on playing and beating clubs like us, who are keen to imagine we are something better.

People are calling our manager a dinosaur, yet two thoroughly modern, young managers put us here. Weeks ago those very same dinosaur people were all in favour of experience.

If we don't take a reality check and that's fans, players and manager we'll allow ourselves to be dragged down to the level smiling below us.

We have had the reality pill lodged in our throats for months.

Whilst not wanting to use the term dinosaur, Do you not think it possible that MAs managerial tactics may be from another age ?

I could be wrong but he seems to have set us up assuming we will be subject to airel bombardments from physical teams of old pros who have drifted down the league with age.

He has surrounded himself with old boys (and some not so old ones to be fair)he is old school ( and entertaining with it)

I am guessing he loves a bit of the old school bonding and a severe dressing down methods.

What he doesnt appear to have expected is to be met with mobile teams who can play a bit.

We have very conflicting messages, Joe Rowley a revelation then not in the squad !Players being told they are starting then dropped from the squad, Players listed then relied on to turn things around.
We seem to have knee jerk reactions & signings

We all really want MA to succeed , we all really dont need another change of regime.

Here is hoping

So many wrong calls over such a long period of time.
