Asking a lot of Smith in that set up. Is he up to it?

Has Weir played LB before? Drew has hasn’t he?

Thought Weir played that position at Sunderland.
Also played a few games (3-4) there last season when JBW was absent and IMO did well.
Seeing Smith for the first time, he looked clueless, but I'd give him benefit of the doubt as he's just been chucked in. Apparently know for his break up play, let him sit in front of defence and do just that.

Prefer the look of your team.

Perhaps we can put together a dozen options and someone can print them off and leave them with MA tomorrow.

Weston left back, I didn’t realise it was that bad.

With Carter, I don't know wether he was 100%. I got really cheeses off when MA was saying he was our best player (FWIW, not one of them deserved to be mentioned in that category)
From what I've saw, he was going through the motions. I'd drop him to give him a wake up call and also to give him another week to bring himself back up fitness

Weir played a few games at RB last season, not LB.

Talbot played at both RB and LB.

There's a correlation between doing that and ability. It can't happen. It's a fantasy.
Get it on, bang the gong , get it on

Carter looked very one-paced apart from a couple of surging runs. He had one weak shot and played a few decent passes to his own team-mates - how many achieved the latter?

I disagreed with MA as well, by the way, and, as I stated in a different post, I made Denton my MOM with a 3 out of 10.

If any player was satisfied with his performance yesterday he should receive his cards in the morning.

That said, I think we have 2 players worth a fee at present - one is Carter and the other received praise galore last week from MA but wasn't chosen in the 16 - Rowley.

All other players will either see their contracts out or get paid up.

I do applaud you all for trying to make a team out of this lot, I just can't see any 11 from our squad that I can sit back and feel any kind of confidence in, this squad is dire, for me we have 4 decent players, 2 of them are goal keepers and one is suspended for Tuesday, the other is carter, as for the rest, sorry just can't see anything in them that would make me want to give them a blue shirt.

Perhaps we could start by playing people in their "best' positions as much as possible, iy might not help, but it is a thought. Then hope for a massive chunk of luck to come out way

In theory it's a formation that can work but it looks like one that a confident, attacking team could use. We are neither.

It would need the solitary defensive midfielder to be able to carry the ball out from the back and be mobile enough to work both sides of the pitch and be destructive when necessary.

In short it would need Samy Morsy.

It doesn’t matter what eleven gets put out from that squad, it will be a crap team. Awful squad. Awful manager. Awful performances followed by the inevitable awful results.

I wonder if Martin Allen has reached the same conclusion. It would explain things.
