Spot on comment.

We've paid ridiculous amounts of money to players for the past 7 or so years. We need to follow the likes of Burton, Rochdale, Accrington and Morecambe and start living within our means. We need to start building a team, and not relying on names and ex-premier league has beens.

Secondly, cutting down on the ridiculous off field costs. We've too many people here that do nothing and rake in a wage, i.e. the root vegetable.

Finally, we need to start better links with local and regional non-league clubs, picking up the latest talent and putting into our team. How many gems locally have we missed out on having been identified on here by posters on bobs board, I seem to remember Aiden Flint and Kyle McFadzean both at Alfreton, who have both gone on to have really good careers and we could have signed them for little money.

Same goes for Che Adams when he was at Ilkeston. We ignored it, went to the Blunts and now they pocket £1.75 million when he goes to Birmingham.

Again spot on. It's not rocket science! Even some Sheff Utd fans are saying the same thing about their side. Too many high earners that are giving little back and crippling the side and they've been like this for years etc.
We are trying to live outside our means. I bet the Burton chairman doesn't blame the fans for their lack of ambition.. Oh wait a minute

The difference is that Burton have been very prudent and clever in managerial appointments, knock Cloughie if you wish but he started the firm footings that see them progress to their credit, man management has been their obvious strength by the calibre of the players they've managed to attract with their Chairman firmly with his feet on the ground and no egotistical boastings/ clap trap being spouted.

There has to be an alltogether different approach to squads now with the new loan system.

The injuries to Tommy, Angel, O'Neil and Jones simply means a waffer thin budget which was alledgedly though out on the appointment of Saunders is now having to finance a squad which has to see us through the season in the hope of someone returning.

Boly going won't alter anything in the short term, it's too late to find anyone of value who will IMPACT IMMEDIATELY on the team.

Add to all of that the appaulling business decisions taken and the reluctance to bite the bullet re Turner we see penny pinching decisions in trying to arrest our losses. I'd guess the biggest stumbling block re Turner is our dire financial position and a severance package.

God I hate this league.
