From Barnsleys forum

"Barnsley still main team interested in Gboly Ariyibi, but a few other championship teams considering bids this week.

Just been told by a local journo they've put a price tag of £3m on his head, but would take considerably less

Fees for players are just insane"

Will take considerably less! Why put a price tag on him at all?

A £3 million price tag keeps us thinking they're showing commitment, accepting considerably less gives them the chance to say 'when the championship come knocking' etc etc. It also means somebody in the know talks to local journo's far too much.

He could do with signing for an extra year and seeing this season out with us. It won't happen mind and he'll be gone before the deadline
Here we go again!

Say we'd sell for 750k. We say 3 million but let it be known we'd take less. They put in a low offer of 500 we tell them to jog on and everyone is up in arms about us "showing ambition / all hail the club etc". Alternately they put a "low" offer of a million and you've made yourself an extra 250k for nothing.

Especially from a team who have just come into money.

Why would we not put a price tag on him?

Undisclosed £250k fee coming up. 5% of that is still better than a kick in the nuts for a commission.

In which case he has probably played his last game for us. Doubt he'll play v Millwall if a deal is set to be done. Hope y'all enjoyed watching him!

It isn't a price tag if we'll sell him for considerably less. It's stupid to think we will.

Is Mitchell a credible replacement at this stage of his development or would Simons be more effective? DW will have to get busy as we need more depth and thats with GA here !

Globy should be minimum £1m+ with sell on....anything less then we seriously need to look at our negotiation skills.

If he does go, expect SEB being paid off then 2 players coming in

£50k cut for CT? Who else gets a slice of the million?

Expect our goal threat to reduce by around 50% if Gboly goes, and Ched to become increasingly frustrated. Is that worth 250k to us?

Why is it every time we get to the point of having a decent side we have to set about dismantling it?

50K cut for CT,that makes me feel sick, this is why we will never get anywhere as it's in our CEO's interest to sell our best players, performance related bonus based on our league position is the way forward.

You're probably right. Which makes me right too.

We all know how this plays out. Just need Turner to come out and contradict himself by stating that he's not for sale.

Mitchell is nowhere near ready imo.

Take 2013/14 season as an example.

We were champions of division 2 and lost near on £1.1M. Running with your idea, what bonus should CT have picked up that season based on our league position?

Nothing as any ceo bonus should be based on financial performance, a kind of profit sharing. If someone is going to get a bonus just for selling a player they are going to do it regardless of any other considerations.

Forgive me if so but has it ever been actually confirmed CT gets a chunk of transfer fees or is it still speculation?

How much influence would the recipient of that "bonus" have on the actual decision to sell?

How do you get it confirmed? It would be part of personal contracts, but that is the word on the street

If Ariyibi goes and we don't bring a decent replacement in then I think we will be f--ked I feel sorry for Danny Wilson if that happens.and he could well walk .and who could blame him .

to be fair, most of the players sales conducted recently have been good deals for the club.

Something Chris Turner is generally good at.
