Why do you have to blame anyone as far as I can see income has not reached expected, happens everywhere. From what I've read they are all stating facts no ones fault just life. Many have worked overtime and been dissapointed with pay when tax man had is slice, lighten up the club has to live within its means like everyone should.
The odd ten people on this board who are moaning about finances/signings etc, in my view dont represent many supportersshould and are probably ignored.

Not sure you've been reading the threads or just moaning at anyone with an opinion (like what happens on here all the time) as I haven't seen one poster that doesn't agree in principle. The points made are to do with lack of foresight and not revising the budget when it was clear we weren't going to meet the forecast as well as maybe not having the eye on the ball. Plus leading the fans on all summer and talking to players that are well out of our league in the circumstances and seeing as this is a football club message board for us to discuss all things Chesterfield, what do you want on here... Another thread started on Higdon?

All the above may or may not have a simple plausible explanation, but nothing to do with not agreeing with the cut backs. We support the club in this; just don't think it's done itself any favours in the way they've conducted themselves.

The first thing PC should do when he gets in front of the mikes is to apologise for the trouble he's caused. He was right to be angry and the apology may be orchestrated, but at his level he has to toe the party line. To be fair to him, he should have been intercepted, but when we've got CT implying to the Chesterfield Post that he now fears a fans' backlash against DA, it's all gone too far. This whole problem could have been alleviated if PC had handled things differently...
'well Phil, it turns out my budget is the same as last year and I'm disappointed, but I understand why and it would be foolhardy to risk alot of money on a few expensive players at this stage so I'm changing my shopping list'.

Absolute tripe. Worst post this year. Utter crap.
A new hope.

Ignore us then. Doesn't bother me. I might as well make it known, I'm a 'moaner' cos I care and I'm worried to f*** about what we've been doing finance-wise and how we're gonna cope this season with seemingly minimal additions when currently our squad is completely threadbare. Until then I'm gonna keep posting my thoughts so probably best to stick me on ignore youth ;)

If you budget for 7000, and a few months into the season your falling short by 5 or 6 hundred, what do you do? Carry on spending? or do you try to reign in spending?

If it was me, I would have approached the chairman and said "boss - looks like we are going to be significantly short based on gates so far - are you happy to bridge the gap or do we have to put the brakes on a bit?" If he said no money from me - then surely you have to stop the spending. Now that could have been a simple thing like sending some players on loan for a month to ease the wage bill - Armand could have gone out on loan for a month for example. At least attempt to do something about it.

Sitting back and carrying on as normal while the club lost money is plain daft - even worse than that - it seems the CEO wasn't even aware the club was losing money!!!! How can a CEO not be aware of this? Thats the big problem as far as I am concerned

It happens everywhere? really? It only happens at business that goes under,. not everywhere.

As much as its a disappointment, at least DA has acted. Increase in ST/admission and the extra for the posh seats, while refusing to increase the players budget will stabilise finances and bring the club back into the black.

He also needs to think about his concert strategy. Maybe its worth paying that extra money to get 2 big hitters for 2 weekend dates, and charge more for tickets that will be guaranteed to sell out.

The who are selling tickets for £80 for the cheap seats. Now I`m not saying the who should be playing, but a band of that stature/size would sell out regardless of the ticket price. 2 of these, or even the same big hitters 2 days running?

A new hope.

The problem is the fixed costs. The players are on contracts to the end of the season, you can't jettison players or cut wages mid season. We did loan players out but didn't have a massive squad anyway which led to Togwell being recalled from Wycombe. It looks like the relative failure of the summer concerts was unexpected and has led to the meltdown.
