This is a PR disaster, on the player interview he says we don't need to sell anybody but if we did a proportion of the proceeds would be available to Cook :angry

The more he talks, the worse he makes it!

Yes he is and we have to back him even if we don't like the idea of not spending big bucks on new players. I think if PC does manage to get a decent striker to come at the right price for the Club, then DA will give him the go ahead. The striker signing is important because its goals and winning games that help to put extra backsides on seats.

Karen has asked some good questions but unfortunately not followed up the answers. For example, Turner says the board realised a few weeks ago (it being the financial year end) that the income from attendances had fallen short of the budgeted 7k average. It was obvious to them before May that the average would not reach 7k - yet Higdon was pursued all summer and they must have known he wouldnt come cheap - but the point wasn't made to Turner.
Then there's the issue about a 7k average existing at all. Turner explained that figure was based on us expected to be top 3 all season, but it wasn't pointed out that we didn't average 7k when we went up as champions last time.
Good interview though.

It could be worse - we could be watching a team in yellow, in a crap 3 sided ground managed by Paul Cox and with a budget 0f £800k
A new hope.

It's also been done to death, that it only earns money twice a month

Oh eck only twice a month. What are all those other clubs thinking off only taking revenue on 25 occasions?

"We've said to him that we have to go with the budget that we had last season. We could increase it, but that would be silly, as the season goes on, if the crowds are up, that will open the purse strings."

I've either missed this or it's not been mentioned before but what an interesting comment

If the squad isnt strong enough the results will be poor and the crowds will be down. Then there will be less money to spend on players? Downward spiral waiting to happen. Its a completely negative mindset at the top of this football club.

All this talk of players coming in is complete f'ing tripe.

It's thought that without DA's input, suppliers & staff wouldn't have been paid this month. If CT had calculated the rate of cash burn instead of partying in Benidorm with the players, he too might have realised just how serious the situation was.

I don't think the situation has registered with some.

Finding a striker of the required quality on our budget may be closer to impossible than difficult.

What do they pay in the Tunisian Premier League?

what sort of game is being played here? Are there internal politics that we are not aware of?

Those same 'sources' in whose words I have varying degrees of trust predict a loss of between half, and one and a half million over the last financial year.

Unsurprisingly DA will be furious and demanding all manner of measures to stabilise the situation.

One of which is a moratorium on player signings.

However that's not what fans wanna hear, so the CEO is clearly attempting to placate supporter unrest in the wake of Monday's announcement.

For what it's worth this whole episode is a PR car crash; why not another fans forum similar to that of the Spring of 2012? Why not openly admit individuals at the Club miscalculated, in terms of both budgets and attendances (including the popularity of the recent gigs), and request understanding from us punters?

Most Town fans are reasonable and adult enough to appreciate the truth - infact the contradictory waffle we're currently receiving is counterproductive!

His communication skills (let alone his maths) are a disaster and they have been for a long while

Every ambiguous statement, every contradiction, every inaccuracy will be seized on and will cloud the good.

No matter how much "out of the box" and "blue sky thinking" he's credited with, he'll never be taken serious by the majority again.

I hope the bit about wages and suppliers isn't true, because if it is, someone needs to be fired. Immediately.

Presumably there's a very simple way to save the best part of £100k a year before we start the cost cutting properly.

Good post.
They have openly admitted it, but you are right, it's a PR car crash. This whole episode could have been avoided if your suggestion of a Fan's Forum had been quickly organised and if PC had been put on message prior to his disastrous post match interview. A good CE would have put this to bed very quickly.
