@Gids1980: RS understands that #chesterfieldfc are to give a trial to former Fleetwood striker Jon Parkin. That trial starts today.

Perfectly sensible. If he does well on trial and is cheap he will strengthen the team. He is exactly the sort of player we are looking for; big, strong, good at playing with his back to goal, holding the ball up and bringing others into play. A lot more skilful than some give him credit for

How can we offer contracts to players if the budget's been spent? Hmmmm

So much for the myth about a fantastic scouting system.

I think the key thing here is the leak of the news, Cook making it clear he's having to look at a cheap unpopular option

Or "FFS - we're 'kin' desparate".
Deja Vu this - A storming championship, then a failure to strengthen.
'Veni, Vidi, Velcro' - I came, I saw, I stuck around.

The fitness lads have their work cut out, can you imagine him running up and down Linacre res wall? Or working his backside off (which would be an enormous task) in the gym? He wouldn't last the distance. Then how do you motivate the other guys into doing it, when the whale won't.

Don't get me wrong we need a CF who can hold the ball up but not because he's totally immobile.

Applying pressure on the board to back him, Cook using his media contacts to good effect, whilst there still time (just!) to salvage the situation, being well aware of what happened last time

He looked like he had lead boots on in the last game of the season so a couple of months off with a few more pies and we'll have to winch him on the pitch. Sorry but cannot get excited at this news.

We're thinking Parkin's a tool to try and extract money?

Oh I see. And do you suppose Parkin knows we are just using him as a stick to force Mr Allen to open his wallet.

Is Cook going to threaten to have Parkin sit on DA?
