I think the first fans forum meeting of the new season could be very interesting.

If the club cant invest properly following promotion and a 20% ST sale boost then they ought to explain the financial situation to the fans and how it has arisen, imo

Quite eager for it to happen soon - I'm away from 5th August to 21st so I'd prefer for it to take place earlier. Otherwise, I'd have a full page of questions that I can pass on? ;)

They are too hard for you though.

Illustrative my arris.

I would've made them more difficult but I didn't think you were up to it

Is hazard a guess the total for the released players from last season was much more than £200k, probably more like double that.

I made them simple so Dim could understand :D

Where had the 20% figure come from. I have heard it being quoted on a regular basis

Extract from the Chesterfield Post article on the 8th July…

"As yet, the ticket office at the Proact Stadium has seen a slight increase in season ticket sales with a figure of around 4,000 sold for the coming campaign"

That doesn't sound like 20%

I remember a lot of hype early on in the early bird offer about a big increase but that is about it

I would say anyone who is negotiating contracts should be able to do this, the maths aren't that difficult.

Figures below are for illustrative purposes only

Your wage budget is set at 1.25M and you know it is dropping by 0.05M next season.

What is you budget for next year?
Answer, 1.2M

You release players freeing up 0.2M
You know each of your players have 10% promotion bonus

How much of your budget is left?
Answer 0.1M

Now you sign a player for 0.05M and renogociate contracts costing another 0.05M

How much of your budget is left?
Answer 0M

Do you hold interviews stating we need 3 new players
Answer, No

You don't need an accountant to do that kind of maths. Turner should be able to that on the back of a fag packet but as we know he can't string two sentences together, so why should his maths be any better

CEO my arris5
[ hang on a minute the promotion bonus was said to be £500 per week for 10 players that equates to more than a 25 % increase for a large proportion of those 10

Do we actually have a club accountant that can be consulted on wages / budget issues, or is CT expected to bring players in, broker deals AND calculate the effects on finances going forward etc all on his own ? Is he expected to do all the various cost projections and calculate the effects on next seasons budget etc all on his own, without sound financial advice to hand ?? .... Genuine questions.

If he actually IS expected to do the lot, are we being fair at levelling all this criticism in his direction and making him the scape goat for the obvious financial short comings ?

Perhaps we should be asking who is the club accountant here and not pointing the finger at CT. If there is no club accountant to help in these matters, then maybe we should be asking why not.

I think you are right that some of the criticism goes a bit far.

However, the real shame is that all this area of responsibility used to be in very, very safe hands.

That post interview doesn't seem THAT bad.
Obviously that interview took place before the board meeting but surely CT as well as other members working in the club knew what the board meeting topic would be based upon and had an idea if not knew what was going to be said full stop.

So if this announcement tomorrow is this massive doom and gloom we're all expecting bar one or two, I want to know for one why as fans have we been lead along to believe we are better of than we are in terms of finances and signings. I'm not saying we think we're rich but I'm sure most of us believed that we would sign the 3/4 players PC has talked about constantly in interviews with one of them being marquee or a well known striker.
Within the club for a very long time they must have known that this can't happen (again if the board meeting is as bad as we fear) so why as fans have we been kept in the dark for so long?
Frustration isn't the word.

I really do hope with all the rumour mongers on here who have spouted about how are finances are in such a bad way, look very red faced in the next few days.

Well we'll just have to wait for tomorrow, however I will be expecting an ambiguous statement that will ferment even more "debate"

And if Turners words mean anything it will probably go right up to the start of the season, so be prepared to be frustrated for a little bit long
