We talk about a blame and claim society but what about the "Sponsorship Society". Noticed at the last home game at the Proact during an idle moment that the players shirts are obviously sponsored, along with the match, the ball and obviously various other corporate stuff and the boarding around the edges, also the announcements and scoreboard. Not sure if the corner flags aren't even sponsored. Wonder how much other stuff we could have sponsored too...!!!

Nothing new with sponsorship in this day and age , every club have sponsors names on as much as they can even the national team is sponsored to the hilt!!. When i first went to watch Town in 1978 the match , ball and players kits were all sponsored then so like i say nothing new there.

Asa far as I can recall the first sponsored Chesterfield home match was in 1977 when Tube Investments Ltd with factories in both towns sponsored the FA Cup tie

with Walsall and the replay at Fellows park

It was the tie that went to a second replay at the Baseball ground when Bernie Wright scored and Walsall went on to play Manchester united at Old Trafford

I recall Mike Kearns in the Walsall goal had a blinder to stop us going to Old Trafford in the third round
