Hold on a minute - isn't nine times full time on even minimum wage more than ten grand a month?

I have raised the same point with Moondog via PM. The headcount of nine must be a mix of f/t & p/t staff and Ashley's figure of £10K per month must surely only cover f/t staff.

I am interested in establishing how much has been paid out to f/t & p/t academy staff in wages compared with how much a first year and second year scholar receives in wages per week.

The figures don’t add up that’s for sure.

I'm told the 9 are all full time but AC doesn't know without checking the contracted hours.

The second year scholars (8) get £507 per month. Whereas the first year scholars, where the minimum wage doesn't apply, as part of cost cutting measures just get travel expenses of £20 per month which was discussed with the parents at the start of the season.

All the scholars get all their coaching and education covered.

Part time academy staff cost is £4,900 per month.

Thank you, Moondog. The information supplied by Ashley reinforces Calvin's point about academies being nothing more than jobs for coaching and admin staff.

Based on Ashley's figures, academy staff are costing the club £15K a month, payments to second year scholars total £4K a month and first year scholars each receive £20 per month in expenses. Quite frankly my friend, this stinks to high heaven. When you consider some of the salaries that have been paid down at the Proact and in some cases continue to be, there is something morally bankrupt in expecting young kids and their parents to take one for the team.

One point I forgot is I was told that EPPP is quite specific on the make up of the backroom staff

Good news then, as it ought to mean then that they were never creditors of either CFC or the Development School.
Of course, if he'd vetted Turner's famous media statement confirming that the DS was totally independent of CFC, he's have known all about the partnership.

How is he doing with the DS Liquidation settlement?
Get it on, bang the gong , get it on

Another sly dig at bobs board by the shotter/squealer in today’s academy statement.

Laughable.

Let Steve carry on.

Shall we help him get the facts out?

We have already established that first year scholars receive no wages and only £20 per month in expenses...

For £20 a month in expenses, they may as well not bother. That's what - £1 a day over a 5-day week? Starting from the Proact, where can you get to and back on the bus, for 50p each way? Still, at least the 16+ trainees get their coaching for free. Compared with every other club-based academy in the world, where the coaching is, erm, free. It is classic "Four Yorkshiremen," where "we used to 'ave to ask 'mill-owner for permission to come t' work."

So basically he "S.Coe" stops short of actually saying its closing at the end of the season, with the delluded comment of getting back in the football league as its saving grace.

DELLUDED, there isn't a cat in hells chance of us being promoted this season, or any time soon with our current setup on the pitch.

So stepping over predictable hubris and sycophancy this seems to pretty much confirm what 'Deepthroat' and 'BB' members have said - the sponsors Coe begged for haven't arrived so the Academy will close unless we go up and/or new owners decide otherwise.

I now look forward to an explanation of young men being on the books for less than minimum wage - unless I've misinterpreted the info supplied by Carson - and what'll happen to the 'director' who in eighteen months has overseen the demise of a youth set-up more than eighteen years in the building...

Moondog,

Mindful of the comment below, can Ashley confirm whether or not Adie Shaw has been approached to seek his advice in respect to closing the academy at the end of the current campaign?

"Rumours of the academy closing doesn't help, along with social media playing its part in fuelling speculation without the facts. Our academy is not closing at present and we are committed until the end of the current season."

If your reading Seb (of course you are who are we kidding) and your barb was aimed at this board, I'd just like to redirect you to 'The Wretched Mire of Supporting Chesterfield thread'. There you will find years worth of examples of how this board has exposed this club from everything including committing fraud against it's own fans to outing potential sham investors whom the club were openly embracing.

If there is a potential issue at the club and it ends up on here there's usually a lot of smoke billowing from a fire somewhere about to be discovered.
If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything!

Hopefully Sheridan and the first team will be there to apologise for bringing about it's closure.

Parents only, it seems, and in small groups, rather than all in one go. One can speculate as to the likely content of the meeting, if they don't want the players there to hear it.

They will probably try and get parents to sign an NDA before being allowed in.

Perhaps they do not want the scholars getting vociferous.
