I hear Matt Whitehouse will be leaving the club. I just wonder if this is the beginning of the end for the club's academy as we know it.

So where is Mr Coe's involvement. Thought he had something to do with the Academy. For years the Junior Blues which Coe ran , were a "Feeder" club for CFC youth.

Going to Coventry.
Shame really cos apparently there's some real talent been signed up. It's as simple as this. If we don't go up this season they lose the funding for it and it gets shut down.
Life goes on. Whatever happens.

Coe was simply secretary at the Junior Blues.

Though I'm sure he'd love folk to think he was 'running' it.

And unless things've changed since I was involved at youth level they were no specific feeder club, either. The Centre of Excellence/ Academy drew from all local lads' sides and, increasingly as the age groups got older, youngsters released by other clubs.

It'll be interesting to see what happens with Coe if the Academy does fold next summer, mind.

Remember, he conveniently bypassed any Ass' D' selection process under the auspices of somehow 'overseeing' it.

My guess is his relationship with Carson will see a blind eye blithely turned if the current crew are still around.

But then if they are and we're still non league I doubt there'll be many folk left to give a damn...

It will be interesting as I did hear that particular love-in is not as strong as it once was.

Amazing academy? How many youth players from said academy have become first team regulars over the last ten years or been sold for decent money?

Not many at all

If we aren’t going to get funding for it and therefore it would eat into the rest of the budget it makes sense to close it! Sadly, clubs at our level do not need an academy, any decent youngster would go to one of the bigger clubs in the areas academy anyway

Do we like the cut of Steve C's jib then?. Can he get sponsorship? Has he approached John Pye, worth a cool £172m, a track record of sponsoring all the clubs where he has depots, and established less than 100 metres from the North stand?

Coe asked us to recognise that he had made improvements to the Academy at the last AGM, which was a bit ambitious given that there had been no publicity about said improvements.

I hope the loss of his business partner and Academy Coach from CFC to work for Jack Lester at the Lane has no detrimental effect.

This is what was said in the summer, I don't recall hearing news of any progress on the financial side since. I do however understand there will be an article in the match programme next Saturday.

This amazing academy that's produced err Jamie Hewitt and who else? Most end up going on loan several Pyramids below us and don't pull up any tree even then .Wouldn't be a loss at all imho.
