Alfreton Town could have attracted Micky Adams if they'd wanted him. Wasn't his most recent 'claim to fame' leading Tranmere Rovers out of the Football League?

Standard of Southern Irish soccer is (AFAIK) broadly approximate to senior English non-league.
Standard of Northern Irish soccer is (having watched some of their fixtures on SKY) somewhere between senior non-league and lower-league 2.
So yes, League 1 is better every time; just a shame that Saunders isn't (apparently). He was however, Jonny on the Spot, it seems.
Anomalies like this happen sometimes; slightly different example, but the late Jock Stein played for Llanelli at one stage.
And the Welsh Leagues have never been a supreme standard of football, I grew up watching those teams.
