Late decision by me to miss the game..sons off paintballing with his football team and most of the dads are going as well, so instead of getting mentally bruised and battered I decided yesterday to join then and get the physical abuse.

I know parental duties call every now and then but it's testimony to the quality of the football when a stalwart like you choses not to go....bet you wouldn't have last season!

Enjoy your day out mate!

As one of the more optimistic amongst us I've seen enough in the past to concede we could be in trouble here. But like they say, a couple of wins and everything could change. I'm a sucker for holding on to hope.

Won't be there today as I'm off to Wolverhampton for an Army reunion, so come tomorrow I will probably be so ill I won't care anyway.

Probably a better bet than feeling sick at ten to five...

andy rushbury played we lost 5-2 ...but more importantly...did you join the conga on their 4/5th? (actually not important at all but there have been some bad times in our past but we had 3500 home fans and - we are a different animal now or the point is we should be!)

No I didn't join the conga but have to admit to it being the highlight. To top it off my car was bricked that night. I remember taking a lad from work who had never been to a match before. When I picked him up he was wearing a yellow and blue scarf. When I asked him wtf he was doing he said he thought a football scad would help him fit in. I advised him to remove it.

the 10-0 was far more painful ,down there , utter disgrace , if we ever get back to that level , we will be knackered

I disagree mate, I don't think it's fair to say this forum represents a cross section of those who turn out on the day. 5-6000 home fans, with what, I think I'm being generous if I say 40 - 50 regular posters on here? You're Just stabbing in the dark if you're being completely honest about what you think. I could easily say it doesn't represent anywhere near what the general consensus is but I would have absolutely nothing to back that up and we all know how you like people to back up what they put on here.

People will have objective view either way and there's nothing wrong with that. If people want to be positive, defensive, call it what you like, is that wrong? Same goes the other way too. Unfortunately, what this message board does display is that there is very little tolerance either way. If you want me to back that up let me know, I can start with the contacts between yer sen and "h"

We will always go through periods like this and my experience it's always the same two sided bickering and always the same people. It's how it is. Me, I prefer to sit on the fence, probably leaning more to the optimistic side but always weary of what happens upstairs in the boardroom. Only a fool would trust everything that comes out of a football club.

For me, what has happened in the highest echelons of world football is bound to have been filtered down to all levels. In football, I trust no one, sorry to say not even deepthroat.

Everyone claims to have knowledge but do they? Really? Maybe they think they do and that's good enough for them.

What really matters to me is my enjoyment, that's really what I buy my ticket for, everything else, including message boards and social media etc. well it's just pretend isn't it?

It's ok to be pessimistic, or negative towards the people running the club and the manager, but anyone who is positive or is willing to be patient and wait to see how things develop in time, and hope that a bad run is just a blip and things will improve as time goes on gets ridiculed by regular posters on here who claim to know better than anyone else, and can't wait to tell people "I told you so".

Talk of the Saltergate days was mentioned earlier, I hoped that things would turn around when Richardson was manager, not many fans were willing to give him time to learn, maybe I'm more patient than most people, or more understanding that some things take time, he was the wrong choice of manager to get us promoted back to league one straight away as he needed time to develop, time that we didn't have as league two football isn't good for bums on seats etc. Because I understand that some things take time people who are impatient think I am unambitious. I do want to see us in the championship, but I'm not impatient about it, we had a very good chance last season and were the closest we've ever been in my lifetime, however because we overachieved other clubs came in for our better players and there's no way we can offer wages that Burnley and Hull can offer our best players, I also don't think it's fair to stop young players leaving for much better clubs, like Tendayi and Clucas did. At the end of the day we are a selling club as last season proved we can only attract so many people to games, and it isn't enough to compete with the bigger teams.

This season I will be happy if we are generally in the top half of the table, hopefully flirting with the play offs again, mid table is acceptable at the moment as we are having a bad run, I really hope we don't get sucked into the relegation zone as it's hard to get out of and we don't want to end up back in the league two again. I do however understand that the players we have now aren't as good as last season, and many of the younger players are still learning, but we have chosen to develop players so we need to be patient and not expect them to be faultless. I fail to believe Saunders will get us relegated just because he has suffered relegation with three clubs previously, it wasn't like the clubs were in a good position when he took over and they nosedived under his management and subsequently got them relegated. There were reasons that were out of his control. I'm not saying he was blameless regarding the relegations, no manager makes no mistakes, but I am not someone who fears everything will go wrong, like quite a few people do. I go to games and hope that we can win, I'm pretty sure there are people who support our club who hope that we lose games so that it will be another nail in the managers coffin and they can brag about being right about whoever the manager is.

Like H, I've had stick on here for being positive, supporting my club, and remaining patient while we are having a bad run of results. I can understand why many people have stopped posting on here cos generally if you don't have the same views of the people who constantly slag off the manager and the board you are said to be deluded. Basically you aren't allowed an opinion unless it's the same as the resident doom mongers. I started posting on here again recently, and didn't intend to post as regularly as I used to do. Last night made me realise that I enjoy supporting my club a lot more when I'm not surrounded by people who constantly moan about everything to do with the club, looking for faults with everything people involved with the club do, whether true or not. Bob's board is useful at times, to find information out, but quite a few people on here obviously have too much time on their hands as they seem happy in their world of misery, constantly moaning about the club they for some reason support and get kicks out of pulling people down who don't have the same opinion as themselves.

I don't expect people who disagree with me to understand my post, or my ways of thinking, you'll probably just disagree with everything I've said and say it's a load of poppycock, and insult me in some way like you usually do, which would totally prove my point.

I always try to be optimistic but I'm struggling at the moment to be honest. Fair play to you if the recent quality on offer hasn't dampened your enthusiasm and to be fair you make some valid points.

The only one I would totally disagree with is the assertion that supporters would prefer to see us lose just to brag about being right...I find it inconceivable that any town fan going today wants us to lose!

You've never mentioned that you stopped posting before. Glad to find that nugget of information out. It's good to find out new things...

Anyway, you'll not be surprised to find out I totally disagree. There are plenty of optimistic posters on here who manage to post and not constantly whinge about ''negative posters". Just a point - these "negative posters" can actually come up with good points about the club and how it's ran, the manager, players etc. but then people like you can come along and say that they're just looking for faults and they're miserable, have too much time on their hands etc. and it's ok because hey, at least you're being positive, right?

Your woe-is-me victim mentality is off putting. Maybe if this board's supposed negativity makes you write out such lengthy posts about how you're not allowed an opinion (garbage) and how it makes you feel worse supporting the club when you read negative posts (read: critical posts because people are worried about the direction their club is going in) then maybe you should stop posting for the twenty sixth time or whatever it is.

And then you can come back again a few months down the line and remind us all why you stopped posting again!

PS only just noticed the last part of your post - "I don't expect people who disagree to understand my post" - get out of your own rectum please, you're not a philosopher, that is just an embarrassing sentence to write. There will be *plenty* of "negative posters" who are more intelligent than yourself, of that I am sure.

I agree with what you say and unfortunately patience is no longer a virtue in Football. We live in a world where success has to be instant.

On the flip side though. Those pesomistics amongst us get grief and slated for being too negative and are classed by some as not proper fans so it's swings and roundabouts.

In my option we should all be tolerant of other people's views. But I think it's fair to say that's never going to happen.

Another good post.

And can't you see the inherent hypocrisy in this, 'B': '...regular posters on here claim to know better than anyone else...can't wait to tell people "I told you so"...people who hope that we lose games so they can brag about being right...resident doom mongers...people who constantly moan about everything to do with the club, looking for faults with everything people involved with the club do...people on here obviously have too much time on their hands...happy in their world of misery...constantly moaning about the club they for some reason support...get kicks out of pulling people down who don't have the same opinion as themselves...I don't expect people who disagree with me to understand my post...insult me in some way like you usually do...which would totally prove my point'? It's nothing more than a pious tirade of sneers against people possessing an alternative opinion to yourself - the very thing you're complaining about!

Look, mate, if you want to be positive then fine, terrific, I look forward to the exchange. But please - please - do so by offering legitimate debate rather than looking down your nose at intelligent folk with considered and valid views.

heyup ode lad.

At the beginning of August, your considered and valid view was that the appointment of DS was a mistake.
At the end of August, your considered and valid view was that you had been wrong.
At the end of September, your considered and valid view was that you had been right all along.

Considered and valid views tend to be more consistent.
Get it on, bang the gong , get it on

Who says I

Like I said, I've been to some rubbish games but I've always hung in there. I don't go to many away games now but I did go to Port Vale on a cold Tues night and we ended up 4-0 down within 18 mins I still went to the next game though.

When I say I go because I enjoy it, it's the experience I enjoy, not just the football.

I was at port vale too and if I had gone in car instead of bus I would have been home by time match finished But still went to next game lol over sixty years I seen some Crap but still here

I don't expect people who disagree with me to understand my post, or my ways of thinking, you'll probably just disagree with everything I've said and say it's a load of poppycock, and insult me in some way like you usually do, which would totally prove my point.

Epic whine.

This is a forum for everybody. If someone having a differing opinion to yours throws you into a spiral of doom then maybe a forum isn't the place for you. In fact, maybe the big wide world isn't the place for you.

Barricade yourself in your home and have everyone who wants to visit vetted to see if they might burden you with negativity/an opinion different to your own. Maybe get a recording of some canned laughter for the times you choose to tell a joke.

People disagreeing with you will prove nothing besides demnonstrating that people have a wide range of opinions. And if their opinion is that Dean Saunders is crap, and that somewhere at board level very bad decisions are being made, then they'll be right; because that is what has happened.

I'd recommend starting your own forum at home, you can post and reply to yourself and no horrid people can disagree with you. Sorted!

Had to smile at that while reading the monologue.

Just listening to DS interview on Peak.......why oh why, does he dwell on the past??? If this happened, if that happened......if means it didn't happen...get over it & stop dwelling on the past.

Every man & his dog knows our weakness is right back....from the evidence of the first two games...has it been resolved? Errrr no.......because DS overlooks this fact & now constantly droans on about irrelevant things!
I've been a lifelong fan, but glad I'm not going today...rather stay at home & chill

heyup ode lad.

At the beginning of August, your considered and valid view was that the appointment of DS was a mistake.
At the end of August, your considered and valid view was that you had been wrong.
At the end of September, your considered and valid view was that you had been right all along.

Considered and valid views tend to be more consistent.

Ayup, Dave.

What, y'mean like you telling us the Manager/CEO's cunning plan had worked and the 'Beelzebub/Xerxes' clone had been right all along...
