Who is he? We wouldn't have had enough players to otherwise. Eric Nixon would have had to come on up front.

Only one I can find is ex Newcastle Full back John Beresford's lad. Ex Sheff U and Scunthorpe. Note, that was a 2 minute Google search.

Billy Beresford
Position - Midfield
Billy signed for the club after he asked to be released from Sheffield United where he wasn't enjoying himself. His father is John Beresford, the ex-Newcastle United full back.
He is a similar player to John in a lot of ways. As a youngster John wasn't a left back, and in fact was a left sided central midfielder and that's where Billy also plays. He is technically a very good player with great awareness of those around him as well as good passing skills and has a great change of pace. All of the youth staff were very impressed with him from the moment he walked into the building - he is very enthusiastic, and we are very hopeful he can kick on within the game.

from the Scunny OS when he signed for them in 2012. If this is the chap he must have been released last summer - wonder if he's the small chap seen at MK?

That was the page I found. It also seems the same lad has been at Sheffield FC more recently.

How is he better than our own youth team players? Just a thought.

His granddad played for us in the 60's apparently.

Message to the powers that be at Chesterfield FC:

Billy Beresford will not be eligible to play at MK Dons in the replayed fixture as he wasn't registered when the original tie took place, in fact, IF we sign anyone on January 1st, they won't be eligible either.

:-)

What about Margreitter if he resigns? (I know he won't). He was eligible for the first game, if we had done it right!

I guessed as it was a 'replay' of the first tie, that the original registration deadline would still apply?

Also, its almost like a normal replay as its to be decided on the night, too.

Its ok lindo if the player is a free agent who was released before the start of the last transfer window ( i think) perhaps certain people at the club know better :windup

Listening to Cook's interview on player it doesn't look like he'll be staying. Looks more like a body to fill the bench as opposed to recalling loan players

Ha. An opportunity for a good bit of name dropping. His mam and dad were BH's next door neighbours when he lived at Ridgeway. They have a great big picture window with an immaculate Harley Davidson (I think) on display inside the lounge. I wouldn't mind betting they've had some bluddddy good parties.
