Should we read anything in to Villa allowing him to play in the FA Cup for Oldham today, after previously refusing us permission to play him?

Thought he'd already gone back by then?

Does anyone know who was the (fairly short) left footed player warming up with us before the match today? He wasn't one of our named subs but was knocking the ball about near our dugout.

Could this have been Billy Beresford? If so, he will have been with us a few weeks so the staff must have seen something in him.

I say celebrate Dan Johnson's success, and if he becomes available at some point in the future let him know he's welcome at Chesterfield FC.

Hee hee. Just reading the Oldham forum and some think that Johnson's inclusion has disrupted the team. He isn't in somes' best eleven.

Interesting stuff - a lot thinking he doesn't put a shift in. I can't say I noticed that here particularly. 11 goals against in the last two games says that a few others beside Johnson need to up their game.

Shipping 11 goals in 2 games cause panic and crazy theories, shock horror

Is it?

Not the reason he gave and quickly followed by the dropping of Ryan

You can interpret 'disrupt the side' any way. What other reason would someone be left out?

i always look to blame the imaginative creative midfielder when we start shipping goals,it shows how dumbass some fans are.

It's what Cook felt that mattered in the end.

He's playing further back at Oldham, probably has to put in more of a shift than he did here.

So he could fit in an extra defensive midfielder and disrupt the Morsy/Ryan partnership; that worked well

Then to do exactly as he said, give his own players that were short of match practice game

Both flawed decisions as it turned out

The first one would fall under 'disrupt the side' for me!

I was referring to Gobern

Picking him, dropping Johnson and splitting up Morsy/ Ryan

PC didnt need any single player to disrupt the side
