Our accent is northern, Alfreton's is midlands & Derby's is just silly. The split lies south of Clay Cross!

I have always maintained to my Stags-supporting mate that the equator runs through Clay Cross, thus making me a northerner and him a southerner, though I did move to the southern hemisphere a few years ago, as it's a bit sunnier down here.
These go to eleven.

There are two types of people in England.
Northerners and shandy drinking sounthern wide boys (and girls).
My town, your town, my team, your team, is Northern.
No ifs, no buts.
Got it?
Good!

I class myself as a Northerner, always have done, but gladly just shy of Sheffield.

Caylie wasn't Just a thing in Calow/Holmewood/Hasland either, it stretched as far as Boza. Used to love it as a kid (Still do tbf) with a stick of liqourice to dip in it. Was never labelled as Caylie though, was usually Rainbow Crystals on the big plastic tub they used to take off the shelf. White bag full of the stuff for 20p.
Mug?? Being wrong never gets boring!

Ive always thought Chesterfield to be Northern ..., always kind of thought it is the Southern tip of the North ...The likes of Alfreton etc Definitely being Midlands

BUT ...

If you go directly WEST from Tairn you will go through Macclesfield, Northwich and Ellesmere Port

And Chester would be "further South "

No too many people would claim Chester isn't a Northern place so on that premise Tairn cant be the " Southern tip of The North "

Alfreton isn't anything that Chesterfield ain't.

Derbyshire first, second and third.

Now then you southern pint of mixed drinkers you. I was born and raised in Scotland and moved to Chesterfield in 1978, which was considered then and obviously is a Northern Town. Apparently a place called Fenny Drayton is considered the centre of England and it is (according to google maps) some 57 miles south of Chesterfield, so being North of the middle surely puts this to bed?
