If we sold the pitch by the square yard to supporters this would raise capital

I would certainly by one at the right price. it could raise £250-500K easily

It has two advantages.....

A) raise capital
B) prevent any future chairman doing anything undesirable as long as there was maximum you can purchase

This was done at Chelsea back in the 90s and it stopped Abramovich from whatever he was planning to do a few years back.

At the very least we need to buy enough to park a bus on.

It would work out at about £35 a pop to meet the lower end of your fund raiser. Would the folk that brought the pitch have to pay towards it's up keep, re-laying etc? That could be a very costly purchase if so.

Do you get your bit to keep when they dig the pitch up at the end of the season?

I've no idea how it works logistically but I'd buy some shares if offered

Pitch is approximately 8000 square yards

So for example, 8000 x 40 = 320000

Some special shares, i.e. Centre circle, penalty spot would bring in more. People bought bricks so why not something more tangible and useful

It worked at Chelsea, the supporters actually own that plot of land so no silly remarks about relaying the pitch please

How much it costs to set it up, no idea but it was obviously worth Chelsea's while

The biggest problem would be DA I assume as he would have to hand over some leverage. Don't think is is much of a problem as my Chelsea supporting mate forgot he had a share until Abramovich tried to buy it off him

No ongoing cost, you are essentially leasing it back to the club free

Great idea but do you know what DA and our Chief Exec would do? Well I'll tell you. They'd spend the income on extra groundsmen!

How would the land be registered and would there be a Land Registry fee given that notification of ownership of land is compulsory?

Would there need to be a conveyancing firm employed to prevent c*ck-ups and future land disputes?

About the same as owning a brick

Seriously read the OP, about Chelsea, it will prevent the misdoings by a future owner

I think you would have to speak to the club solicitor, whether each plot would be in your name or there would be some over all holding I don't no

All I know is it worked for Chelsea

If every plot had to be registered I assume that would eat up the funds pretty quickly

Clearly few are taking it serious. I just hope one of these bods who attend the fans forum will pass the idea on

Obviously Turner will peruse the forum but he is probably only searching for posts with "Turner" in them

Shoot he'll find it now!

Off the top of my head it might be something the supporters trust could sort or at least provide a figure head for and a sensible place for pitch ownership to go if not owned by CFC 2001 or whoever

Though would the club/ board go for it ?
