As Paul Cook says we are looking frail at the back....is there any merit in approaching Leeds United for a rest of season loan for Liam Cooper (as he does not feature in the Leeds starting eleven)?

Why would they throw us 600k plus for someone then give him straight back to us?

It's not centre back we are struggling at. Jones, Evatt, and Margreitter to me are good enough to be in that defence. If we get in a specialist right back I think our defence will improve to the level we need it at.
If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything!

 We still had the frailties when Cooper was with us.The team has to defend as a unit,it isn't just about the back four and keeper.
Many a good tune

Correct, the issue is however good the 2 holding midfielders are, they are being bypassed by the opposition who can get round us by going wide.
The attacking 4 in front of Ryan & Morsy do not give adequate cover when we are defending and need to shore up.
This doesnt require radical changes, just a re-think on some personnel in the team at certain times, maybe for certain games. It may involve some stronger wide midfielders coming in to tighten us up.
If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

I think as patchy as Tendayi has been recently, to essentially blame him for our poor defence this season is a tad harsh. Evatt has more than contributed to our poor defending, as have our work-shy wide men.

yes its Harsh to blame Dave. Evatt comes to close and tries to get in front of the man a bit too much. He did twice in the first half against the blunts and got turned. He did it at Plymouth last season and got done up like a kipper.

On the left side Clucas and Jones seem to work well together, on the right Dave is left a little exposed. I feel Boco might come in and play in front of Dave to help solidify things a little.

Cook didn't help matters by swapping Clucas and JOS around either - it seemed a pretty pointless thing to do.

The 2 goals yesterday - they took advantage of the wind, had 2 shots from distance and scored 2 good goals. The first - maybe evatt should have got tighter, but Dave was miles down the pitch out of position. , the second one,we failed to clear our lines first and foremost, just gave the ball away for them to have another go. It was some good movement to come forward that 6 yards or so. Should the CB (evatt?) have followed him? possibly

2 very good goals though.

A new hope.

 Agree.Ryan covers a lot of ground both in supporting attack and also in defence.Others seem to be lacking in that defensive role and its this that needs addressing by the manager. :glare:

We've got one. Drew Talbot. Quality player, fast, skilfull, overlaps. Adds balance. Hope he regains fitness.

Been out to long for me, look to have lost pace last time he played before injury.
We need to look elsewhere for a replacement IMO

I also agree that the problem at the back isn't totally down to Darikwa. Let's not forget, RB isn't his natural position and he's still learning. Much as it will annoy some fans, I think Evatt is a part of the problem. His lack of pace and mistakes are costing us and his obvious experience doesn't always make up for this. As someone has already said, the back four need to work as a unit and the other outfield players have to contribute more, defensively, when we're under pressure. The problem then is the extent to which this does damage to our ability to launch a quick counter-attack. It's a fine line between getting it right and getting it wrong and I don't think we've got it quite right yet. I'm hoping to see another experienced CB come in after Christmas.
If nothing acts faster than anadin, why do we buy anadin?
