I said this 2 weeks ago at the Brighton Conference....

'If the CCRC solicitors find a way to indicate to the Appeal Judges that Evans will be unemployable unless the conviction is squashed, then are the Appeal Judges likely to be swayed?. All very irregular, but he's served his sentence, CCRC get their success stat, and most people are happy. Call me a cynic, but these things work by compromise.'

Here we go........

'An inquiry into the rape conviction of footballer Ched Evans is to be fast-tracked by the body that examines potential miscarriages of justice.

Evans was found guilty in April 2012 of raping a 19-year-old woman in a hotel room the previous May.

The Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) has said its investigation into the case could begin within weeks.'

I think he's diplomatically explaining that the purpose of that particular website is not to provide a balanced view.

Genuine question here -

If evans was successful in his appeal would he be compensated for being wrongly convicted? Or doesn't it work like that?

Also if he is successfull what would happend to the victim of the crime as it stands currently?

It is not certain that he would get compensation unless there had been maladministration.

As far as I remember, his victim always stated that she couldn't remember what had happened and didn't make a complaint herself. It was stated that she was not seeking any compensation. There are no personal legal issues for her but I don't know what psychological problems might arise.

The balance is between the accounts on their website and those of the views of the press and the general public. Not that the website itself would provide a balanced view of the situation as clearly it wouldn't.
